- The townspeople are now suffering the same as the haenyeo, who the spirits chose to punish for some reason in the recent past. Maybe that pile of leftover diving equipment I saw earlier can give us a clue.

- There’s a snorkel here, but the haenyeo don’t use them; they’re freedivers, who rely solely on the breath in their lungs. As far as I know, this skill is central to their identity. Maybe the sea is angry that they’ve betrayed their traditions.
