The X marks on this underwater map indicate the spots where I heard someone whispering underwater. I just assumed it was an auditory hallucination caused by diving too deep. But today, the salinity of the air rose at an inexplicably rapid rate.

Just as I thought. The last portrait in the family tree is of the last couple of the Van Eikel family, who died under mysterious circumstances a hundred years ago. Shortly after that, their son went missing. It’s said he was swallowed up by the fog.

This is the famous Van Eikel House… It’s quite old, and you’d think the door would have rotted away long ago, but even when I push with all my might, it doesn’t budge at all. Are you sure the address is correct? Is there a sign somewhere? Could you please take a look around?
The sign’s style is old-fashioned, but the sign itself is brand new. I suppose there just hadn’t been an opportunity to put it up outside yet. This is definitely the Van Eikel House. Just look at this craftsmanship. The entire building has been perfectly preserved.

I examined the works the culprit had tampered with. A consistent style is evident in all of them. The artist used ordinary paint and even left a signature on the portraits. If we had a UV lamp, it would probably make the signature appear.
