- Adeline's theory is interesting. It may indeed be van Eyck's paint that brought Di Fiori's paint to life. Look for "dammar resin." That's what the masters used in their formulations.

- Dammar resin" was used by artists, but also by alchemists. It is a hardened conifer resin, similar to amber. I'll look into this more closely.
