- Why do you have to answer so many questions before your daughter's wedding? If Mr. Auld had not asked me, I would have said no. My daughter Mirelle and Laurie are childhood friends; they met at a panpipe in the fall. Laurie might still have it.

- The sound of this panpipe could be heard every day from under the window. We didn't realize it was Laurie who was making the noise, but... my husband Douglas didn't like the fact that our daughter was befriending the son of a poor flower shop owner. We later found out that she used the sound of the panpipes as a cue to sneak out of the house to see Laurie.
