- I love Valerie's idea. Making cookies with Chinese characters for everyone in town. I've been thinking... why don't you give one to the landlady? She always seems to be out of the loop. I'm sure the mistress would be happy with a cookie of happiness, and I'm sure it would help ease her temper.

- How beautiful! Sugar cookies with marmalade on them. And they're decorated with prayers for happiness! Are you sure these letters mean happiness? I wouldn't want to give my mistress a cookie with something on it that doesn't make me happy.
