- Shortly before I showed up, tragedy struck the von Oben family. A large cog fell out of the clock mechanism...her mother died and Tillie was forced to live in a wheelchair. The only image of her beautiful mother remains in that mirror.

- The reflection in this mirror is Tilly's mother. According to her sister, when she was a little girl, she made her mother sit in front of that mirror and traced the outline of her face with paint. It may seem surprising, but these lines, which seem to have been drawn at random, accurately represent the loving and kind Mrs. von Oben.
