- On Shanti, the day of the summer solstice, my ancestors would build a huge bonfire. They believed that this brought the sun closer to the earth. We won’t be making a bonfire in the City, but we’ll decorate the town square with themed holiday flags instead. Help me cut them out!

- What pretty flags we got! The Shanti festival will be enchanting! In ancient times, on the night before Shanti, my ancestors would sit in the dark and think about the times when there was no fire, no warmth and comfort, and no heat to cook on. That is how much they appreciated this element!
