Fog can reach deep into the structure of an object. It can change even the tiniest tissue without destroying it. To get the rest of the record, we need to look for things that are the result of such changes.
The items that have been altered by the fog have an unusual appearance, but this change is not random. There is a definite logic to it. Fog is not a natural phenomenon.

The fire-breathing chimera was a hybrid of a lion, a dragon, and who knows what else. I killed it with an arrow through the heart. It was too dangerous to approach. Did you know chimera have fangs?

With this passport, that former believer should be able to pretend to be a normal citizen.
