Prisoners of the Fog
Isabelle
An unseen surge of magical energy occurred at the Manor House Gate. I assume it created the breach through which the night fog penetrated into the courtyard between the Room of Fate and the Gate. Martha got hurt in this mystical incident. Let’s find out what happened here and get our medium back in shape.
-
Painted World
Detective
Thank you for pulling me out of this painting! Now I know that this wasn’t the last live painting created by di Fiori in the City. He was ecstatic with his new gift and painted tirelessly until he understood that it was too dangerous. And now he’s gone, but we can expect more surprises. So be careful with paintings!
-
Breaking Point
Martha
The items we found tell us di Fiori’s story. Its ending inspired his Italian Patio masterpiece. We will combine these items and find the painting’s soul through a ritual. I hope that after this the magical painting will release the Detective, otherwise he will remain part of the painting forever. There’s no room for doubt. Prepare for the painting’s invocation!
I appeal to the essence of the painting, marked by di Fiori’s wonderful gift! Show us your soul, the story that forever changed the life of young Giovanni! I see a long road... And an artist’s chest! His mother found him a mentor, and di Fiori left his home forever to study art!
-
Going Rogue
Cardsharp
Young Giovanni di Fiori went out of control after his father’s death. Old Cardsharp knows how this feels! The downhill path can be sweet. Maybe that’s the episode di Fiori depicted in his painting of the Italian Patio? Look for something that points to vice, like dice!
The dice’s edges are rather worn out. Young di Fiori spent a lot of time playing with this dice! But it doesn’t seem to be the most important subject of his canvas. So what happened next?
-
Dance of Death
Adeline Svensson
If di Fiori’s father really contracted the plague, the story could end in tragedy. Perhaps the painting reveals the pain of childhood experiences? Let’s find out the architect’s fate. If he died, a posthumous relief would have appeared at di Fiori’s house. Do you see something similar here?
I regret to say that we have a Memento Mori Relief on our hands, which means "remember you must die" in Latin. Di Fiori’s father died of the plague.
-
Mysterious Illness
Martha
Will the story of di Fiori’s childhood reveal the painting’s plot and remove its soul? I feel the astral plane moving... Giovanni’s father fell ill, and medicines revealed his ailment. Find an albarello - a jar for medicine - and I’ll tell you what happened to di Fiori’s father.
An albarello with a remedy made of herbs and alchemical powders. Judging by its contents and inscriptions on the glazing, di Fiori’s father contracted the plague during the epidemic in Venice.
-
First Steps to Mastery
Isabelle
Are you sure that Giovanni’s father taught him to be an architect? After all, Giovanni became famous for his paintings, not for architecture. The boy’s tools could help us clarify this moment. Look for something like an Architect’s Theodolite in the Patio. That’s one of their basic tools!
A theodolite allows architects to measure angles. There’s a child’s note in here! Tools replaced toys for little di Fiori, and his father often took him to work until he fell ill.
-
Noble Employer
Adeline Svensson
Giovanni included a story from his own life in the painting. Indirect hints will allow us to reconstruct di Fiori’s story, deactivate the masterpiece, and get the Detective out. His father served a nobleman. This may shed some light on the origins of the story! Search the Patio for something with a noble coat of arms... A dish, for example.
This Stamped Dish, made of Murano glass, belonged to the Duke of Visconti, who was famous for his palaces! So the elder di Fiori was his architect.
-
Sources of Talent
Isabelle
The tools that belonged to the great artists of the past are filled with their special talents. By using the City’s magic, we will find out what unites these different facets of the artistic gift. If we’re lucky, we’ll learn how to curb Giovanni di Fiori’s talent and save the Detective from the animated painting of the Italian Patio. Help me concentrate the flow of power.
The pulsating flow of talent energy bursts out of the artists’ tools, forming a statue of a woman... It seems that she’s about to come to life! The sculptor Pygmalion created a beautiful statue of Galatea, fell in love with her, and this love breathed life into her. Every genius wanted to become godlike and give life to their paintings!
-
Inner Light
Cardsharp
Di Fiori didn’t plan to portray the Detective in his masterpiece. We must remove him from the painting! Oh, of course I meant "save." Look for van Eyck’s invaluable varnish in the Patio. He was a true genius! Giovanni must have studied van Eyck’s gift to control his own.
As a masterpiece appreciator I can tell you: this varnish defines the "true van Eyck." His paintings seem to glow from the inside, like they are coming to life! Maybe his talent was controlled by the same thing as di Fiori’s?
-
Optical Illusion
Mistress
This fool di Fiori learned of his talent to bring paintings to life and dove in feet first. As a result, his masterpiece sucked in the Detective, and he was rather useful to me! The artist’s talent is controlled by his desire to influence minds! If you don’t believe me, find an oculus in the Patio. It’s the embodiment of optical illusions.
One of my admirers, a collector, said that the use of a windowed dome in buildings - an oculus - made artists obsessed with perspective and illusions. They started "creating a new reality," just like your genius!
-
Light and Shade
Adeline Svensson
The greatest artists had one special talent in common: they all possessed the "magic" to create something new. Not literally like di Fiori, of course. If he was looking for the source of talent in inventions, then he surely remembered Caravaggio’s Chiaroscuro! Look for his lantern in the Patio!
The Italian genius Caravaggio drew paintings using the chiaroscuro technique, or "light and shade." He tried to show that "things look different in different light." He wanted to influence reality!
-
Decay and Vanity
Alex
Giovanni was looking for the sources of other artists’ talents to find a way to curb his own. I don’t know anything about art, but I once saw a still life with a skull, a "vanitas," on the cover of a music album. Many artists liked dark things! Let’s look for a painting with a skull.
What a cool still life with a skull! Di Fiori was studying the artists who portrayed the inevitability of death. All living things decay eventually! They truly were afraid to die and wanted to leave their mark.
-
Perfect Form
Isabelle
Who would’ve thought that the greatest creation of Giovanni di Fiori could suck people in?! To save the Detective, let’s repeat di Fiori’s research and find out what forms the essence of an artist’s talent. He drew shells on the sides of his diary... The golden ratio! Look for a spiral Nautilus Shell in the Patio!
The cup is decorated with a nautilus shell! The golden ratio makes the perfect form. I’ve read that da Vinci used it in his paintings. The danger of the artist’s talent is in his pursuit of perfection?
-
Filling in the Blanks
Martha
We’re definitely on the right track. Surrounded by the items you found in the Patio using di Fiori’s sketch, the defaced canvas has filled with unusual power! I will try to restore their images in the painting with a ritual. The Detective has volunteered to assist me. Help me concentrate my mental strength.
I focus on the City’s magical currents. The painting appears before my mind’s eye, all the erased objects take their places... Look! The restored picture comes to life, shines brightly, and... Oh, no!
-
Everyone Loves Dolphins
Detective
I agree with my colleague, Inspector Dipp, that di Fiori erased objects from the painting with a certain idea in mind. Sources of food and water, and means of protection... Why did the painter spoil his masterpiece?! For instance, why did he erase a dolphin-shaped water spout? Let’s find it in the Patio.
Just an ordinary dolphin-shaped water spout. What else would you expect from a seaside town? Everyone loves dolphins! But di Fiori erased it. Why?
-
Caravaggio’s Legacy
Adeline Svensson
It’s great that I found this unique sketch of the Patio by di Fiori! Now we can use it to restore the erased elements and find out why Giovanni ruined his masterpiece. Do you see a Fruit Basket in the painting? No. But there is one in the sketch. Find it, please.
What gorgeous fruits in the basket! Did you know that the Italian Caravaggio was the first to start painting such still lifes? Di Fiori erased this beauty from the painting...
-
From All Weapons
Huntress
Giovanni wrote that the painting should never be finished. He erased several elements from the canvas for it to "calm down for a while." What could the painting threaten? Maybe there was something dangerous in it, some kind of weapon? For example, there is a cannon on the sketch. Find it in the Patio!
An antique cannon is a slow weapon, but effective in its own way. There were many of them in coastal cities to defend against the pirates. But there is nothing scary about it.
-
Source of Life
Inspector
Frightened by something in the nearly finished painting, Giovanni di Fiori purposefully erased objects from it. There must be some logic... There’s a fountain with a lion in Adeline’s sketch, and none in the original masterpiece. Will you look for the fountain in the Patio?
A fountain is an indispensable part of any Italian town. It’s literally the source of life in the summer heat. In the painting it’s covered with gray paint.
-
Small Island of Nature
Adeline Svensson
The most important thing is to restore the painting. Otherwise, we won’t know what scared di Fiori and why he ruined it. You can use the sketch I brought to find the objects erased from the painting in the Patio. For example, there is a Tree in a Pot on the sketch, and there isn’t on the canvas. Will you look for it in the Patio?
A wonderful potted fruit tree - it’s so Mediterranean! Why would Giovanni erase such an innocent thing from the painting? Look, this is its place on the canvas, where the blot is!
-
In the Shadow of the Cross
Martha
We’re one step away from finding out who was pursuing Giovanni di Fiori in the real world. As soon as we unravel this tangle of intrigues and find the real threat, I’ll be able to remove the spell from the painting in the Italian Patio and finally look under its cover. Now, help me prepare for the identification ritual.
I see the aura of the still life painting, the scarlet glow of the instrument of torture... Oh, no! Fire. Giovanni di Fiori was hunted by the Inquisition, which considered his "living paintings" to be the work of the devil. Look, the cloth is falling from the enchanted painting! This is the masterpiece depicting the Patio we’re in now!
-
Biased Interrogation
Mayor
I don’t believe that Giovanni di Fiori would be frightened by a soul-saving conversation with a local priest, or condemnation from neighbors like Signora Pellegrino. He seriously feared for his life and his paintings. If I were you, I’d be looking for something really threatening.
The Heretic’s Fork looks unpleasant, even menacing! Our great Giovanni di Fiori had serious problems!
-
In Search of Protection
Cardsharp
Even if some priest began pestering Giovanni di Fiori, it’s no reason to run away! With his masterpiece, no less. Surely he would have found a rich patron. Look for letters with representative seals in the Patio!
Now that’s a fancy seal on that letter! Let’s see who has a Fisherman’s Seal on their signet ring... Oh dear, this is a letter from the Pope himself!
-
Forbidden Science
Isabelle
Di Fiori’s still life came to life, scaring his client half to death and sending her off to complain to her confessor. But what could the artist be accused of? Unless di Fiori was interested in other forbidden things... I think I see Galileo’s Orrery in the Patio! Bring it to me, please.
This is Galileo’s model of the solar system that belonged to Giovanni. Master di Fiori was a progressive person and was interested in science. This hardly pleased the clergy.
-
Pious Signora
Adeline Svensson
There’s a name written on the back of the still life with the live butterflies: "for Signora Pellegrino from G.d.F." Maybe she, or one of her relatives, pursued di Fiori? Look for one of the Signora’s things in the Patio. Maybe a clothing item or a rosary.
Judging by the gems in the rosary, Signora Pellegrino was quite wealthy. Could a lady like that threaten di Fiori? There’s a letter with her monogram. Let’s read it!
-
Spellbound Nature
Detective
Keep your chin up, buddy. We’ll quickly find Giovanni di Fiori’s pursuers and lift the spell off this painting. I bet it’s the masterpiece we need! But let’s take a look at the letter again. The pursuers appeared after the master made several commissioned paintings. Maybe it has something to do with them? Look for a painting in the Patio!
A still life with flowers and butterflies. I don’t see anything stran... Wait, one of them just flew out of the painting! So the commissioned painting came to life. Do you think this is the problem?
-
No Longer Incognito
Detective
Judging by our findings, an artist clearly visited the Italian Patio. But was it Giovanni di Fiori? Maybe some other Italian wanted to paint such a picturesque place! We have to make sure. Martha has kindly agreed to read the aura of these objects, but she needs some artifacts. Could you bring them?
Martha concentrated on the artist’s tools and entered a trance. She began wandering around the Italian Patio like she was sleepwalking, but with something attracting her. Look, the medium’s fingers found a hiding place, and inside it there’s a container full of letters... with the name of Giovanni di Fiori! He was here!
-
Benefits of Broad Knowledge
Adeline Svensson
A true master cares more about his tools than his own appearance! Believe me, biographies don’t lie. And, of course, a true master has many brushes for different types of work. Look for paint brushes in the Patio.
How curious, the artist used a jar as a stand for his brushes. What nice painted pottery! And the coat of arms of Naples again. Are di Fiori and his masterpiece really somewhere here?
-
Creative Process
Detective
Just finding some paint isn’t solid evidence of Giovanni di Fiori’s presence. It could have easily been left here by a merchant. If the artist really was here, he must have used them. Take the pigments, for instance. I believe they have to be ground up, right? Look for a, what is it called... a muller.
Look, the muller and its tray contain traces of the Italian pigments that we found earlier! Some artist definitely worked in the Italian Patio. But was it di Fiori?
-
Eternal Rome
Adeline Svensson
Di Fiori wasn’t the only artist to dilute his oil paints with nut oil instead of linseed oil. So it doesn’t prove that he was in the Patio. But Roman Pigments could! It’s so good that I studied all this... Look for pigments in the Patio while I go research some more.
These special Italian Pigments were used by artists since the days of Ancient Rome! Giovanni di Fiori also often used them. Our mysterious artist was definitely an Italian.
-
Smooth Oil
Valerie
Do you believe Cardsharp’s tales about the Italian artist Giovanni di Fiori visiting the Patio and bringing his mysterious masterpiece here? Then look for Nut Oil! They told me in art class that the Italians used it for oil paints.
Look, this jar of Nut Oil is so beautiful! Adeline says that it’s adorned with the coat of arms of Naples, and di Fiori lived there! Until he went missing that is.
-
Honorary Biographer
Adeline Svensson
I will happily help you find the artist’s trail if di Fiori really did visit this Patio. In the course of my journalistic investigation, I’ve become an expert in Giovanni’s life! An artist’s tools can reveal a lot about him. Did you know that di Fiori used Red Chalk in his works? Look for it in the Patio!
Sanguine, or Red Chalk, became popular among artists during the Renaissance, and its recipe comes from Italy. Some artist definitely visited the Patio! But was it our artist...
-
What could go wrong
Detective
Traces of the missing masterpiece by Giovanni di Fiori led Adeline from the human world, as well as our Cardsharp, to the mysterious Italian Patio, which very conveniently appeared in the City. Is this peaceful scene really hiding the mysterious painting and the artist’s secrets associated with it? Let’s figure it out! Where’s our Diary?
-
Mediterranean Charm
Adeline Svensson
Ah, finally someone who’s alive! My name is Adeline Svensson. I’m a journalist. I found this picturesque place near Naples while conducting a sensational investigation. But suddenly fog enveloped me and... I ended up here. Let me show you where it all happened!
While on vacation in Italy, I happened to learn about the mysterious "last" painting by Giovanni di Fiori. I could practically smell success! I even found a lost sketch of the masterpiece: an Italian Patio in which people had been erased from it.
-
Little Italy
Juliette
We’re one step away from entering the location. What will we find there? New mysteries of the City are waiting to be uncovered. Go on, enter!
The location is now open! Do you feel the pull of new adventures? The magic of the City is calling out to us!
-
Embodied Beauty
Isabelle
To break the Egyptian spell that has made Valerie ugly, we will perform a ritual and extract the magical essence of beauty from Nefertiti’s jewelry. Will you prepare some artifacts for me? Alas, I’m not Martha: I cannot perform any ritual without some external magic.
Nefertiti’s jewelry is arranged in the corners of a ritualistic pentagram. Now to close the magical circuit and... victory! We’ve embodied Nefertiti’s famous tiara that holds the concentrated aura of her beauty. Quickly, call for Valerie!
-
Heavenly Collar
Juliette
I heard you were searching of Nefertiti’s jewelry in order to save Valerie from an Egyptian curse. Nefertiti is depicted in beautiful wide collar necklaces - I think we’ll be able to find one in the City!
Gold and sapphires - this necklace is worthy of the legendary Egyptian queen. I hope this necklace of the marvelous Nefertiti will help make Valerie beautiful again!
-
Scarab on the Wrist
Alex
I don’t love Valerie for her looks, but it hurts me to see how she suffers. We must break the curse! In movies, Nefertiti is often shown wearing massive bracelets on her arms. Maybe there’s something similar in the City?
This bracelet is exactly like the ones I saw in the movies about Nefertiti! Costumes designers really knew their stuff. I hope it can help cure Valerie!
-
Golden Waist
Valerie
My cheeks are too hollow, my nose is growing... We must get rid of the curse quickly! I saw a beautiful golden belt somewhere in the City - maybe this is another one of Nefertiti’s belongings that can help us remove the curse? Find it, please!
This belt is truly worthy of a queen. I’m sure Isabelle can extract from it the essence of beauty that will bring back my pretty little face instead of... this!
-
Majestic Steps
Cardsharp
Dear friend, are you looking for Nefertiti’s things to cure our little Valerie? The best connoisseur of jewelry in the City is at your service... that is, me. Egyptian queens wore gilded sandals - I advise you to look for some.
These sandals aren’t just shoes, but a work of art... Worthy of the most beautiful queen. Save Valerie before she drowns the whole City in her tears!
-
Precious Azure
Isabelle
Nefertiti's beautiful face eternalized her and her belongings still retain the aura of her beauty that we can use to heal Valerie. Earrings, for example, would be ideal. Please find some.
I definitely saw such earrings on one of Nefertiti’s busts in the City’s museum! The first step to removing ugliness from Valerie is complete.
-
Migratory Songbirds
Lady
A few songbirds are already circling over your treats, but they still don’t dare to start their meal. Can it be that they are still afraid? The mages suggested building and enchanting new birdhouses for safety, but this requires artifacts. Will you find them?
I put the feeders around a Birdhouse painted with flowers. Isabelle and Martha’s protective charms fill the Birdhouse with magical runic symbols, guaranteeing the songbirds’ safety. Look, the birds are returning to the Easter tree!
-
A Sip of Spring Water
Juliette
We prepared many treats for the songbirds’ return to the Easter tree, but we forgot about their drinking water. Please find a beautiful Drinking Bowl and I’ll fill it with spring water!
This beautiful Drinking Bowl can be used for several songbirds at once! I poured some spring water into it. Take it to the Easter tree, mon ami.
-
Mother of Invention
Conductor
It’s a pity that the birds have abandoned the Park of the Spirits. But we’ll bring them home soon. In the winter we used to make feeders from cups and fill them with melted lard. The birds loved it! Find a Cup Feeder.
What a wonderful Bird Feeder and the lard is so fresh! I don’t know about the capricious songbirds, but you’ll certainly get the attention of the chickadees from the whole district!
-
Porcelain Design
Lady
We can lure the birds to the Easter tree with an unusual feeder in the form of a teapot. The birds can fly inside and peck the seeds. I even donated my porcelain teapot for this! Will you look for the Teapot Feeder?
Not only does the Teapot Feeder have an interesting design, but it can also protect the bird and seeds from bad weather. Kind of like a porcelain house. I’ll hang it on the tree.
-
Vitamin Blast
Lady Peacock
I feel so sorry for Lady’s scared birds! Lure them back with fresh fruit. Birds need vitamins just like we do and they always like to eat juicy fruits. Will you find a Feeder with Fruits?
The shape of this feeder is perfect for placing slices of fresh fruit and birds can drink the fruit juice from the bowl below. Give the feeder to Lady!
-
Experimental Forms
Huntress
To get the songbirds to return to the Easter tree, we need to carefully choose the feed and the shape of the feeders. Believe me, before I became a monster hunter, I learned how to lure and catch wild animals. I once made an unusual Ring Feeder with seeds. Could you look for it?
This Ring Feeder still has a lot of seeds for the birds. Give it to Lady. Let her hang it on the Easter tree and soon the birds will return for a treat.
-
Promised Immortality
Isabelle
The equipment you’ve collected helped me make reagents for the Philosopher’s Stone. Our enlightened Monk studied alchemy in ancient China and helped me. Bring me some artifacts. I’ll obtain the secret ingredients from them and we will be able to create the Stone.
The magical ingredients create a spectacular reaction! Calcination, solubilization, sublimation... Oh, so much steam! So, what do we have here...? A set of mysterious liquids, but this is definitely not the Philosopher’s Stone. It seems that Cardsharp was unlucky. Meanwhile, I will study the liquids we created.
-
Storage Conditions
Monk
Master Isabelle has already synthesized the ingredients for the Philosopher’s Stone. But they will be too unstable in the open air. Look for a Desiccator - a container for storing alchemical reagents.
From time immemorial, Desiccators were made of special glass with a tightly attached lid so that a certain level of humidity would remain inside for storing the reagents.
-
Separation of Liquids
Isabelle
Alchemical reactions from the Philosopher’s Stone formula are proceeding as planned. However, at this stage it’s time to separate the resulting liquids of different densities. Find a Separatory Funnel.
The Separatory Funnel allows us to separate the unmixed liquids that form during the experiment into different vessels.
-
Beginner Alchemist
Cardsharp
I flipped through a beginner’s alchemist guide to take part in the creation of the Philosopher’s Stone. We will definitely need a Measuring Glass to measure the next batch of liquid ingredients! Will you find it?
It looks like the Measuring Glass from the alchemy guide. There are some strange symbols on the gauge... I hope Isabelle can make sense of it. My precious stone, I’ll see you soon...
-
Alchemy’s Origins
Monk
Cardsharp’s desire to obtain the Philosopher’s Stone is understandable. In ancient China, alchemists and monks also sought to obtain this wonderful substance, which was called the "sacred cinnabar." Find a Retort for distillation.
The Retort is one of the oldest alchemy tools. We use it to distill the ingredients of the Philosopher’s Stone, earlier mixed in a flask by the master Isabelle.
-
Three Throats
Isabelle
Cardsharp is relishing prematurely over the creation of the Philosopher’s Stone. Just for the record: technically it’s not even a stone. Legends call it an elixir or simply a reagent for more complex alchemy rituals. But the formula looks interesting. Look for a Three-Neck Flask for synthesis.
The Three-Neck Flask is used for a synthesis reaction, that is, with its help we will mix the liquid ingredients according to the Philosopher’s Stone formula.
-
ALL-CRUSHING PROTECTION
Alford Stone
We’ve assembled weapons to fight against the witches. These weapons will allow me to find the Witch Hammer Grimoire, a legendary inquisitorial grimoire, in the City. Without it, any protection is only temporary. But I need some tools to find the book. Lend me yours!
We did it! The legendary Witch Hammer Grimoire is right here in front of us. Now I don’t feel so defenseless against these dark witches!
-
BROAD CONSECRATION
Alford Stone
The last thing that will protect us from witches is a grenade filled with holy water. Don’t look at me like that! In the Middle Ages, it was believed that holy water could deprive a witch of her power. In any case, they work against dark magic, so help me find one!
Holy water grenades are extremely useful against anyone practicing dark magic. Does it burn? No? Good. You’ve passed the first stage of testing...
-
ACE UP THE SLEEVE
Alford Stone
Even when she looks defeated, a good witch always has an ace up her sleeve... as does a witch hunter! Bring me a gauntlet with a hidden dagger. Cold steel will be our last resort. You can find one in the City.
Thank you for the gauntlet. I don’t intend to use the dagger, but you should have something simple and sharp that you can always rely on.
-
NO WITCH CAN BITE
Alford Stone
Let’s continue looking for witch hunter weapons! The more we gather, the better our protection against magical threats. Speaking of protection, I need a protective collar that reliably protects the neck from any attacks. Will you help me find one?
Such collars were used to protect the neck from the poisonous claws of witches in the past. Our witches look after themselves better, I’ll give them that. But the collar will come in handy nonetheless.
-
DEFENSE AGAINST ATTACK
Alford Stone
The Holy Inquisition was best at creating weapons against witches! It often armed its witch hunters with a battle censer. It can both dispel charms and defeat your enemy. I could use one of those! Can you look for one?
That’s definitely a battle censer! I didn’t think that a church tool could look so... frightening. The witches will think twice before attacking!
-
RESTRAINT AND PURITY
Alford Stone
We need to get equipment that will allow me to stand up to the witches. I have sufficient powers for this. Let’s start with a Puritan hat. Will you go look for it?
Initially, these hats embodied purity and innocence. They still protect their wearer from evil witch spells. I hope it doesn’t come to that, of course.
-
High-calorie Surprise
Detective
Buddy, your help in collecting all these pastries for Juliette has been invaluable! Martha said that a little magic could make all these high-calorie treats harmless. All we need is a little magic from the City. Will you help?
Martha’s dietary magic has filled all our pastries, making them all low-calorie. Our medium has assured me that the young lady can now eat a whole box of such pastries and not gain a single pound! Well, I’m off to Juliette!
-
Time to Indulge in Buns
Conductor
Even grown-up girls such as Juliette secretly adore buns with a large cup of fragrant tea. Believe me, I know. I always bought these for my daughters on weekends. Look for a Bun.
A wonderful, freshly baked Bun! Cinnamon and sugar powder gives it flavour. Is the Detective’s basket for Juliette ready?
-
Tongue Twisting Treat
Martha
Juliette is a sweet girl, but it will be difficult to impress her with a simple gingerbread. The Detective was right to seek your help. I strongly advise you to find a Trdelnik. Try pronouncing it and not laughing.
A Trdelnik is a puff pastry baked on a skewer. I think Juliette will be pleasantly surprised to find it in her morning basket of pastries.
-
Holey Sweetness
Valerie
It was a good idea to give Juliette a Pastry Basket, but the Detective is having trouble implementing it. Look for a donut. They are easy to eat, and you can people-watch through the hole. That's what I always do!
This is no ordinary Doughnut, it’s huge! You sure know how to pick a pastry. Find me a similar one, okay?
-
Taste of Childhood
Lady Peacock
The Detective’s idea to give Jul a basket full of pastries is so romantic! If you want to touch her heart, find a glazed Croissant. It’s a popular Parisian pastry, and Paris is the most romantic city in the world!
Just the scent of this Croissant lightened my mood, Jul will be delighted! I’ve rarely tasted anything like this in my homeland.
-
Twisted Pretzels
Huntress
Want to please Juliette with pastries? She doesn’t look like she has a sweet-tooth, so I wouldn’t take risks with round buns and thick stuffing. A traditional German Pretzel is your best bet. It has a neutral taste, and has become a symbol of bakers. Will you look for a Pretzel?
Mein gott, a real German Pretzel! You got lucky, mein freund, I haven’t seen such pretzels since my childhood. I’m sure Juliette will appreciate it.
-
Weapons of Victory
Huntress
I melted all the shields, the ingots are ready and tonight I’m going to forge the universal blade - a great weapon that can slay any monster. But I need your help. Tell me, have you ever worked as a blacksmith? My forge doesn’t produce enough heat, so we must charge the foundry using City artifacts. Can you do this? One final step remains, mein Freund. You and I can’t turn back now.
Phew, what a long night it was! But look at our blade. Isn’t it beautiful? The perfect shape, material, and balance. It’s time to try it out on the streets - I’m heading off right now. Ah, yes! Vielen Dank, Kampfgenosse. Thank you, my comrade-in-arms. I rarely call someone that, but you earned it.
-
Demonic Shine
Huntress
The composition is incredibly strong, but doesn’t last long. It lacks the finishing touch to finalise the alloy for the blade. Adamantite, a material that appears only after the destruction of demonic places of power, exists in one of the worlds. In Greek, "adamas" means indestructible. What if it helps?
Super prima! This is just what we need! An Adamantite Shield, the legacy of demons... Now I can finally give the alloy the required durability.
-
Unbreakable
Huntress
Alas, I’ve tried a hundred combinations, but I still haven’t been able to forge a universal blade. It turns out to be too unstable. We need a completely indestructible material that can withstand even the heat of hellfire. I heard there was an invincible soldier in your world. What if you try to get your hands on his shield?
That’s strange... The shield is all worn and scratched up, as if he experienced hundreds of battles. Do you know what these white triangles mean? Nevertheless, I won’t keep you here. I’m already itching to try a new composition with added vibrilite.
-
Indestructible Composition
Huntress
I still can’t create an alloy for the universal blade. Something is missing. I remembered that mountain folk mined a metal with amazing properties. Even a heavy spear couldn’t break their thin, chain mail armour. And a line of shield bearers must have stood like an impenetrable wall. Will you look for it?
Interesting, interesting... what a small shield it is! Only a very short but extremely powerful warrior could wield it. And look at the framing, it’s true mithril! I’m not sure if the heat of my furnace is enough to melt it...
-
Blue-Skinned Rebels
Huntress
We still don’t have enough materials for the Absolute Blade. Do you remember the blue people from the paradise-like world who tried to protect their homeland from greedy money grabbers? Those invaders were interested in unobtainium, a universal element with unusual properties. The local people used it to make simple trinkets and even shields. Find it, I beg you!
Look, such a rough surface! The natives didn’t know what kind of treasure they possessed... See for yourself: the unobtainium is super durable and practically indestructible! Thanks for your help. I will continue my research today.
-
Hero’s Armour
Huntress
So, mein Herr, are you ready to help me find rare metals or do you believe that the vile creatures will leave us of their own accord? Listen... Mighty Hercules performed his feats whilst taking cover behind a heavy Orichalcum Shield. Ancient legends say people learned how to smelt this unusual material in Atlantis. I wish I could find it!
Himmeldonnervetternocheinmal! The shield has a really unusual colour, dull yet shiny at the same time. I tried to scratch it, but not one of my instruments can handle the orichalcum. It’s a perfect material for the universal blade!

Freed Soul
Martha
To calm the soul of Queen Nitocris, who has taken over Juliette’s body, we must stage an Egyptian burial. You have assembled everything, but we still need a Sarcophagus. I can summon it from the catacombs, but I will need the magic of the City. Can you help me with this?
I close the magic circle and in its center a Sarcophagus materializes in a sheaf of golden sparks! Combined with Nitocris’s Cartouche and her Burial Mask, it will definitely send the queen into eternity. Let the Detective bring Juliette to me, quickly!
-
Hidden Face
Valerie
Jul just demanded that I call her "Your Majesty!" We must banish this vile Nitocris as soon as possible! Egyptian pharaohs were buried in precious masks. Maybe one can be found in the City?
A Burial Mask for women! Maybe it belonged to this very queen Nitocris who has possessed Juliette...? Well, I hope it can help save Jul!
-
Ancient Name
Huntress
I heard you're looking for burial items to save Juliette? Yesterday, I saw a gold Cartouche amulet with names of the deceased. Please find it.
Look, the hieroglyphs on the amulet form the name "Nitocret." This is another version of the name Nitocris, the one who seized Juliette’s body!
-
Valuable Treatment
Cardsharp
My friend, I found out what happened to Juliette. Expelling the spirit of Nitocris from her by staging an Egyptian funeral? What a clever idea! Look for mountain Resin: without it, it will be difficult to carry out your plan.
The Egyptians soaked the Bandages with resin and wrapped the mummies with them. Don’t forget to invite me to your staging for the Egyptian burial - I can’t wait to see it!
-
Mummy Outfit
Detective
Why does my Jul always find herself in trouble? Now we need to drive the spirit of an Egyptian queen out of her body. If we have to simulate mummification, we will definitely need Bandages. Will you get them?
Bandages for expelling Nitocris’s spirit from Jul’s body! Just what the doctor ordered... well, I mean, Martha. Thank you, buddy! We’re one step closer to saving Juliette!
-
Mummification Difficulties
Martha
To drive Nitocris’s soul out of Juliette’s body, we need to stage an Egyptian funeral ceremony. I’m sure that we’ll find all the things we need for it. Start with a Canopic Jar - a ritual jar with a lid shaped like an animal’s head. You will easily recognize it.
Canopic Jars were used for mummification. What for? You’re better off not knowing, especially if you recently had lunch. Burial rites are not very appetizing...

Timely Assistance
Isabelle
I don’t know much about ships, but I understand our problem: the existing anchors cannot repel the magical storm and hold Galahard’s ship. Which means we need a special anchor. Prepare the artifacts, I cannot do this without their power.
I’ve taken the best parts of the anchors you brought earlier, put them together and applied the runes of toughness... The power of the City is filling them, materialising a small symbolic Anchor of Hope in the hands of Lady Peacock! Maybe it will help us secure the ship?
-
Port Legend
Juliette
Mon ami, I’m sure the storm that hit Galahard’s ship isn’t ordinary, but magical! But right now we need to at least save the ship. In France, Marrel’s Anchor was a thing of legends. Perhaps it can help us? Could you look for it?
I was hoping that the legends would be true, and that Marrel’s Anchor would be able to secure Captain Galahard’s ship to the Pier! But the waves are carrying it away again.
-
Reliable Classics
Inspector
Only a miracle could keep the Captain’s ship in the harbour in such a storm. Or the most reliable anchor! And what could be more reliable than well-tried classics? The Admiralty Anchor is the best option! Look for it.
Admiralty Anchor, do not fail us! Alas, even it couldn’t keep Captain Galahard’s ship in place in the harbour. Do you have any other ideas?
-
A Quick Sink
Huntress
In my childhood, a sailor told us stories from his youth, and I remember that Matrosov’s Anchor is the fastest and most stable. Find it, mein freund, if we want to save the Captain’s ship.
You’ve found Matrosov’s Anchor, but even it couldn’t hold the ship, although it can quickly dig in and turn around. We need something else.
-
Unbreakable Toughness
Detective
We need a super reliable anchor to keep Galahard’s ship in place! If the Hall Anchor failed, then the bottom under the ship is too hard. Try looking for Rogers’ Anchor, it’s designed for solid soil.
I was sure that Rogers’ Anchor would suffice, buddy, but now I see that the storm is too strong. It must be that the anchor didn’t have time to bite into the soil...
-
Cast-iron Grip
Conductor
We cannot let the storm break Captain Galahard’s ship, this would break Lady Peacock’s heart! Yes, even I am sentimental sometimes. Try looking for the Hall Anchor, that bulky thing is particularly strong.
The Hall Anchor once brought about a revolution in England. But no, the storm is too strong for even the cast-iron claws of the anchor to attach to the sea bottom.

Drum Solo
Martha
The voluminous sound of Daiko drums mesmerizes and creeps into the hidden corners of the soul. To calm the Spirit, we need to transfer the energy of the Daiko drums we’ve found into a single one - the O-Daiko Drum. I’ll need the magic of City artifacts for that. Bring them to me and we’ll begin.
With your help, I managed to create the O-Daiko Drum. This isn’t just a musical instrument, the loud sound of this drum is said to scare off evil spirits and bring prosperity. Let’s play it in the Japanese Garden to try and calm the Samurai Spirit.
-
Big Output of Hira-Daiko
Huntress
I swear by my blade, this Samurai Spirit means trouble for our City. Fraulein Martha persuaded me not to use force. Well, bitte, let’s find a big, powerful Nagado-Daiko and get this over with!
The sound of the Nagado-Daiko reminds me of a hunt, where gun shots resemble a drumbeat. Bring it to Fraulein Martha immediately.
-
Kabuki Drums
Juliette
Did you know that Hira-Daiko drums are used in the Kabuki Theater? I hope our theater can put on a performance that will calm the Samurai Spirit. All that’s left to find is a big, loud Hira-Daiko.
The sound of the Hira-Daiko drum is spellbinding. I’m sure Martha was right about its mystical power and that we’ll be able to calm the Samurai Spirit.
-
Rhythm of the Spirit World
Monk
The sounds of the Nagado-Daiko mysteriously affect not only the living, but also those residing in the spirit world. Go and find it.
The Nagado-Daiko you found is the finest work of ancient masters. Its rhythm will calm the awakened Samurai Spirit.
-
Enchanting Rhythm
Valerie
I can’t keep still when I hear the drums. Bum-bada-bam! I noticed a Rumbling Hira-Daiko in the City. It’s the medium drum in the ensemble. Let’s try finding it together to weaken the Samurai’s hold on the City!
The Hira-Daiko sounds are so enchanting! I’m sure that the Samurai Spirit will expend all his energy and fall asleep for another hundred years.
-
Combat in the Rhythm of Dance
Mei
As a child, I loved watching the drummers play in the Imperial Palace. Their movements resembled a dance and followed the principles of combat. The spirit of the Samurai lost in the garden probably knows this technique. Let’s find a resounding Hira-Daiko drum and try to lull the Spirit to sleep.
This is an ancient Hira-Daiko drum. I feel the imprint of the gods upon it. I think it used to stand in an ancient temple, but now it’ll help us calm the Samurai Spirit.
-
Multicolored Balls
Isabelle
Usually I’m against using magic for fun. But Valerie’s parties help many of us take a break from the difficult life in the City. Help me breathe a little magic into the Temari Balls.
The colorful threads on the Temari Balls start glowing. They are filled with the blessings of the embroiderers who created these works of art. I string the balls on a runic thread, combining their good magic. Voila, as Jul would say. A garland of magic temari!
-
Theme Party
Detective
Valerie thinks that the Temari Balls will help her make her parties even better? Each festivity needs to have a theme. How about a Japanese party? Find a Temari with a chrysanthemum!
The chrysanthemum is one of the key symbols of Japan, and a temari with this flower will definitely give Valerie’s parties meaning. Let’s take the ball to our artist.
-
Endless Fun
Valerie
All our friends are off searching for Temari Balls so that their magic can transfer to my parties. Don’t forget that fun is the key element of any party! Can you look for a cheerful looking Temari?
This Fun Stripes Temari makes my heart sing even without a party! No one should be sad at parties. I hope the temari will work its magic.
-
Star Party
Alex
Valerie’s parties are the best in the City, and each party is unique! I wish that they never lose their energy - dancing till you drop, stars flashing before your eyes! I know! Find a Temari with stars!
The Starry Sky Temari will ensure that Valerie’s parties have uninterrupted drive and vigor! After all Valerie is a star herself. Will you bring her the ball?
-
Magical Pattern
Isabelle
Since Valerie decided to decorate her parties with Japanese Temari Balls and use their magic, she needs a ball capable of carrying a spell. Find a Temari Ball enlaced with lines of power.
Perhaps for the ancient Japanese the Power Lines Temari was just a ball with a fancy pattern. But we know that these lines can channel magic! Valerie will need it.
-
Stylish Holiday
Lady
I want to support Valerie in her desire to arrange parties for us and fill them with magic! The City is a dangerous place, and festivities help people to relax. In my days, parties were valued for their elegance. Look for a floral motif Temari so that Valerie’s parties always have style!
The exquisite Spring Meadow Temari is embroidered with real silk! I’ve read that only the daughters of samurai made silk temari. Take your find to Valerie. I’m sure she will like it!
-
Acclaimed Classicist
Martha
The "actors" are fooling around on stage in theatrical crowns. I feel the Rapture Theatre starting to shiver with indignation. Mr. N’s cursed mask is losing its power. Quick, bring me the artifacts. I will enchant a Laurel Crown - a trap for the conceited Mr. N.
Great job! The Golden Laurel Wreath of the acclaimed classicist is filled with the power of artifacts. It may seem that it only adds to his brilliance, but that is not so. As soon as Mr. N materializes and tries it on, the trap will slam shut. Got him!
-
Why Do Stars Shine?
Alex
To lure Mr. N out to the stage, the Detective assigned "royal" parts to all of us. This will anger Nathaniel and hurt his delusions of grandeur. And I... I’ll be the Little Prince! Can you find the Stargazer’s Crown?
The Stargazer’s Crown fits my Little Prince’s mantle. I made it from theatrical curtains and a couple of paper clips. If we want to enrage Mr. N, why not go all out?
-
Your Highness
Mayor
The Detective’s idea to lure out Mr. N with a bad performance, and make him accept the enchanted Crown of Genius, seems like a crazy idea to me, but I will help. Shakespeare’s kings wore traditional crowns. Will you find me one?
Who will I be in the Detective’s directorial debut? The crowned Macbeth? The ghost of Hamlet’s father? I should work on the opening monologue...
-
Elven Tricks
Cardsharp
What an amusing idea - to stage an awful play to enrage Mr. N! Martha is preparing a magical crown that will trap him. And I’ll play Oberon in this farce. Give me an Elven Wreath!
The Elven Wreath of King Oberon! He was as cunning as me. I would’ve played the gold loving Midas, but I couldn’t find his crown. So, "Is this meeting under the moon for better or worse?"
-
King of the Sad Image
Conductor
The Detective has come up with a plan on how to lure out the mad director. I also had to agree to be the bait, and sober for that matter. I only remember King Lear from school. Will you find his crown for me?
The crown of Shakespeare’s King Lear? Well, let me try it on. Now, how did it go... "Blow, winds, rage, blow!" I need to go warm up my vocal chords. My voice is too weak.
