  • Ball Queen’s Dress

    Martha

What next? We’ve found five elegant parts of the dress for the main dance of the ball. Each garment is great in itself, but is it enough for Juliette to amaze the Dancer’s ghost? We can’t save her without the best dress.\n I think this outfit lacks detail, some subtle gloss and brilliance. Use the City’s magic to make the outfit irresistible. Please, hurry.

Look! As soon as the ritual was over, the outfit started shining with silvery sparkles! This is truly an outfit worthy of the queen of the ball! It’s like the dress is shining from the inside, and the diamonds on the bodice look like drops of dew in the golden rays of a rising sun!

  • Natural Beauty

    Detective

Buddy, we’re one step away from assembling the outfit that will help free my Jul. Nothing suits a real lady like a bouquet of specially selected flowers. I’m sure you can find it!

You did it again! The bouquet is simply magnificent, as if it was made just for Juliette! I hope that blasted ghost will be pleased!

    Enchanted Ball

  • Light Steps

    Huntress

Mein freund, I heard about the misfortune that befell Juliette. I may not be very good at balls, but I know one thing: you can’t dance or hunt well without comfortable shoes. Search the Manor for Dancing Slippers that will help Jul flutter like a bird in her waltz!

These shoes are perfect! Their comfortable shape and soft soles will allow Jul to dance the night away and keep her legs fresh. Only in fairy tales do silly princesses come to the ball in glass slippers!

    Enchanted Ball

  • A Touch of Passion

    Martha

What next? What part of the outfit will make the ghost of the Dancer gasp? A lady can sport open shoulders and a deep neckline during a ball, but gloves are not just a matter of etiquette. They have a deeper meaning. Look for Opera Gloves in the Manor, and hurry!

Great job! Not everyone who wishes to dance with a lady is worthy of feeling the touch of her fingers. And certainly not everyone is worthy of kissing her hand!

    Enchanted Ball

  • Victims of Beauty

    Valerie

What part of the dancer’s body must be perfect? The waist, of course! Tightened in a corset using the thinnest silk bodice with whalebone inserts. I’m sure there’s something like this in the Manor!

Wonderful! What a beautiful Bodice! And those tiny diamonds, pearls and silk flowers...! It’s just how I imagined it. Jul will look irresistible in it!

    Enchanted Ball

  • Walking on Clouds

    Valerie

The perfect outfit, worthy of the queen of the ball, doesn’t start with a corset or shoes. I’m talking about the train! What a majestic feeling you get when you walk with a weightless, long train behind you. It’s like you’re walking on clouds. Will you find it?

What a wonderful train! Ah, how nice it is to hold it in your hands, to feel the thin muslin rustling tenderly.

    Enchanted Ball

  • A Dance for Eternity

    Detective

The Enchanted Ball has captured Juliette. Thankfully she didn’t petrify; but every night something attracts her to the dance hall, like a moth to the flame. She dances among frozen figures with painful grimaces on their faces, not noticing anyone or anything. What’s happening in this accursed place?

  • Path with No Return

    Detective

The Captain and his crew were summoned to the magical island Avalon, King Arthur’s final resting place. But why did the One Day spell break? Will Lady Peacock wait for her Captain another hundred years without trying to find him? Will they reunite?

  • Royal Boat

    Martha

We’ve learned that King Arthur’s Glove made the Captain perform knightly deeds. I don’t think it’s insanity or possession. Help me prepare a ritual with City artifacts. The magic of the gloves are very active, so you will need to make efforts to break through it and finally learn where Captain Galahard and the crew of the Lancelot disappeared to.

Even worse than I suspected! This is a Celtic amulet depicting King Arthur’s boat. According to legend, this was the boat that took him from the world of the living to Avalon, a mythical island, when the king was fatally wounded.

  • Heart Under Protection

    Huntress

I, of course, am no knight, mein Freund, but I know something about historical armour. If we are talking about real knights and not some jesters from a fair, look for a Breastplate. A knight could go into battle in just their pants, but he always protects his heart.

With such a knight’s Breastplate, going up against a spear wouldn’t be scary. It might even withstand a crossbow. Look at this multilayer steel! Oh, bitte, here’s some kind of letter...

    Pier

  • Name and Honour

    Martha

Did you find all the knightly items mentioned by the intelligence service? Don’t make me remind you about heraldry. For a knight, the family banner is more important than their estate and inheritance. A coat of arms can tell you more than the entire volume of family chronicles.

Yes, this is a true knightly banner. No doubt, this is the coat of arms of one of the legendary knights of the Round Table. We’re close to our goal, but we need more items connected to Arthur’s Glove.

    Pier

  • Amazing Horse

    Valerie

Wow, what an unusual report! The agent writes that Captain Galahard was cleaning his horse’s armour, preparing to fight a dragon! Do you think they really encountered a dragon? Okay, okay, I’ll help you look for Horse’s Armour.

Look, this armour is polished to a shine. The Captain must have been very serious about his forthcoming battle against the dragon, even if it didn’t exist!

    Pier

  • Horse Racing

    Detective

Is Arthur’s Glove really to blame for the Captain’s mysterious visions? In the next report, the agent writes that the boatswain from the Lancelot cleaned gold spurs in his presence. Gold! How impractical. Yes, I know, I was passionate about horseback riding in my youth. They are definitely worth looking for.

What sharp spurs! In New York, you would be immediately attacked by the Animal Protection Society for such a thing. But let’s continue our search. Spurs aren’t enough for Martha’s ritual.

    Pier

  • Knight’s Feast

    Conductor

One of the agents who sailed with the Captain commented on the crew’s strange behaviour in a report. He says that he saw the first officer drinking from a Knight’s Cup. If you’re looking for something knightly, I think this cup is it!

What a cup! I couldn’t refuse a sip from such a fine cup. What do you think, did King Arthur dip into his wallet for decent drinks for his knights?

    Pier

  • The Language of Flowers

    Martha

We collected the flowers that helped us trace the Captain’s route to the magic glove - and they’re all as fresh as if picked just a second ago. Maybe the City’s magic will make the flowers speak and tell us if Galahard managed to find Arthur’s Glove. Help me prepare the ritual.

I can’t believe it! The very glove of King Arthur! The good news is since Galahard found it, he and Lady Peacock will be allowed to marry. The bad news is since the glove is here, that means the Captain didn’t return to the Queen. Here’s the last page of Galahard’s journal...

  • One Day of Love

    Juliette

What did the last Caribbean island give the Captain? Galahard writes about monsters that appeared to him in the trees, and calls his last flower the ghostly Orchid. Sounds ominous to me.

    Pier

  • A Kiss From Afar

    Juliette

The tone of Captain Galahard’s notes are becoming increasingly hopeless. The only thing keeping him sane is his love for the princess. Here he writes that he has found "the most tender kiss for her and is going to bring it to the Hotel." That’s what it says! Is it a hint to another flower?

Well, of course! Psychotria, the flower kiss. Now and then such can be found on the mountainous coast of Costa Rica. How romantic! But the new island did not bring the expedition the long-awaited trail of the ship, only these strange flowers.

    Pier

  • Gourmet Dessert

    Valerie

Just think! The Captain writes that he found Chocolate Cosmos for Lady Peacock. This supposedly extinct flower has the scent of chocolate and vanilla! Ah, to take a whiff of it... Or even lick it.

Chocolate Cosmos! It really does smell better than any dessert. I read that the last time it was found was somewhere on the islands near Cuba. In his travel notes, the Captain mentioned that instead of finding a Templar ship on a new island, they only found a flower and tropical fever.

    Pier

  • Mysterious Whisper

    Martha

In his travel notes, Galahard mentions that on his journey he picked some "whispering flowers" for Lady Peacock. Respectable flowers shouldn’t whisper anything. The Captain writes about Arisaema. I need to see it.

This Arisaema is a luscious flower. But I don’t see anything sinister about it. Galahard writes that the island off the coast of Florida, where it was picked, did not yield anything. However, the sounds and whispers of that place drove his people crazy, luring them into the abyss.

    Pier

  • Broken Heart

    Juliette

Not all romantic men have gone extinct! The Captain mentions that the first exotic flower in his collection for Lady Peacock was the Dicentra; beautiful and desperate, like his emotions. Do you know what the Dicentra looks like, mon ami?

How sad that the Dicentra symbolises a broken heart... In his travel notes, the Captain writes that such a flower cannot be found even in the British Museum. Galahard found it on the coast of North America, where the expedition hopelessly searched for the ship’s wreckage.

    Pier

  • News from the Homeland

    Lady Peacock

My father didn’t even bother to inform me that negotiations for my hand were underway - and at the level of global politics! My poor John, what did they get you into... And what did my father say?! Please don’t torment me. All the gifts from the correspondence were from my homeland. Maybe this is a clue? Use these gifts or magic or anything, just don’t torture me with the unknown.

What a gorgeous peacock bracelet! I’m certain John prepared this gift for me as a sign of our love. Little consolation if I never see him again... And here’s a letter from my Captain! Unfortunately, I didn’t receive it and the envelope has clearly been opened. I’m sure it was intercepted by one of the royal agents!

  • Royal Gambit

    Detective

The previous letter looks incomplete. Too much innuendo. What kind of "weighty arguments" did the head of intelligence speak of when persuading the Raja to allow the mismatched marriage? There’s a white royal elephant at the end of the letter. Maybe it’s some kind of sign?

A White Elephant figurine made of bone! You say it was sitting on a file with intelligence reports? Okay, what’s in it...

    Pier

  • Tigers of Major Politics

    Detective

The next thing was bleak diplomacy. The head of intelligence entered into flowery correspondence with the Raja, exchanging pleasantries, and even sent him a precious anlace as a gift. Have you seen anything like it?

The Tiger Tooth Anlace is a worthy gift for a king. The letter from the head of intelligence is even more interesting. He asks the Raja to allow the marriage between the princess and Captain Galahard. He asks the Raja about a private meeting to provide "even weightier arguments."

    Pier

  • Desperate Step

    Detective

The secret service is getting in the game again. If you believe the letters, Captain Galahard contacted the head of intelligence with some kind of request and sent a precious Jade Pitcher from the West Indies as a gift. If we find the pitcher, we may learn the request as well.

Well, judging by Galahard’s letter, the poor guy despaired so much that he asked British intelligence to help persuade the Raja to allow him to marry Lady Peacock. In return, he promised loyal service the Crown.

    Pier

  • In a Golden Cage

    Juliette

Look at the rest of the letter! The Raja politely thanks Captain Galahard and gives him a "true" symbol of royal power, some kind of precious bird. It must symbolise the Raja’s response, but it’s still unclear to me. Have you come across a bird made of gold?

How sad! A precious bird symbolising Lady Peacock herself in a golden cage. The Raja refused the Captain because he wasn’t good enough for the princess. Holy Julie, bless all the lovers...

    Pier

  • Royal Bird

    Detective

We need to search the Pier for the letters that the Raja exchanged with the Captain and British agents. I noticed a falcon near the ship, and a case for a letter was tied to its foot. I didn’t think a falcon could be used as a carrier pigeon! Can you catch it?

In the letter to the Raja, Galahard writes that he brought this hunting falcon from his military missions and is presenting it as a symbol of royal power, and... and asks for his daughter’s hand in marriage! Whoa!

    Pier

  • Arthur’s Legacy

    Detective

Of course! King Arthur’s shield with the image of the legendary glove! I’m a practical detective and I’m not versed in all of these legends. But now I’m starting to understand why Captain Galahard was sent out to sea. And what’s attached on the other side of the shield? It looks like another secret service report.

  • Quest for the Holy Grail

    Isabelle

There’s nothing more legendary than the Holy Grail. I’m sure the agents tried to find it for the queen. A drink of water from the Grail bestows healing and immortality. But even if it exists, only the worthy can find it. So, shall we find the Holy Grail?

Of course, they didn’t find the Holy Grail. All they found was a cast copy of the cup and false legends. It seems that the intelligence service were close to despair and the queen close to death.

    Pier

  • Five Stones of Immortality

    Martha

I read about a great Persian medicine man named Ahas ba Vanung. Allegedly he found a cure for all diseases by putting 5 magical stones together. The agents’ records mentioned that they were also searching for them to heal the queen. Find out if they succeeded.

There are only three genuine stones of Ahas ba Vanung. See, the Crown’s agent writes in his report that the other stones are just coloured glass. They didn’t help the queen.

    Pier

  • Bloody Legend

    Huntress

On the ship I saw copies of ancient images of a unicorn. Surely the agents tested the popular legend about the healing power of its blood. I don’t want to hunt this magical animal, but testing the blood of a unicorn is worthwhile.

As expected, the agents couldn’t find any unicorn blood. They followed a false lead and got hold of a cup made of "unicorn’s horn". However, it belonged to a rhinoceros. I’m an expert, you can trust me on this one. There’s also the agent’s report on the failed mission.

    Pier

  • Bitter Infusion

    Martha

Primrose flowers are mentioned in the British agents’ records. They say that medicine for all diseases lies within them - you just need to prepare the magical infusion properly. Find the infusion and see if it helped Queen Victoria.

This bottle definitely contains an infusion made of primrose flowers, but a note on its neck says, "The legend was not confirmed." The infusion couldn’t heal the queen.

    Pier

  • Divine Healing

    Detective

What items from ancient legends were the British agents searching for, and how is this connected to the Captain’s mission?\n The head of intelligence mentioned the Asclepius protocol in his letter. Asclepius was the ancient Greek god of medicine. Maybe there’s something on the Pier that’s associated with this god?

The Rod of Asclepius? Just what I needed! But look, there’s a note attached to it. "The tests did not confirm the rod’s healing properties. The legend was not confirmed. The mission has failed." Alas, the rod couldn’t heal Queen Victoria.

    Pier

  • Mission Possible

    Detective

We collected a lot of things from the Captain’s ship. It’s clear that the frigate went on a deadly expedition and was trying to find something very important. But what? We don’t have enough information to solve this puzzle. Use the City’s magic. Hopefully we will find out the mission of the Captain and his ship.

Whoa! The key that materialised in your hands has the profile of Queen Victoria on it! Was Galahard’s expedition financed by the British Crown? Well, well... Here’s the safe that the Key unlocks. If secret agencies aren’t involved, then I shouldn’t call myself a detective!

  • Immersion

    Huntress

I came across a Diving Helmet during my search for clues about the Captain’s final course. No doubt he needed to protect the sailors when they dove into the abyss. I think this helmet will help us finally figure out the purpose of the expedition. Could you find it?

I was right. Captain Galahard got his hands on an old diving helmet on his expedition. But why? Was he going to search for something in the deep sea waters?

    Pier

  • Serious Intentions

    Valerie

I also strolled through the ship. Imagine, it has a real deep-sea mine, like in a military history museum! I didn’t even know they were used in the 19th century. Don’t look at me like that, I didn’t touch it. Don’t believe me? See for yourself.

I hope this Deep-Sea Mine is disabled! Why would such a thing be needed aboard an ordinary English frigate? Were they going to fight someone? It seems that the Captain’s mission was more military than diplomatic!

    Pier

  • Using the Latest Technology

    Detective

That strange thing that looks like a drill can shed light on the frigate’s mission! I’ve never seen this kind of ship equipment before. My friend, bring it to me for a closer look.

Indeed, it’s a drill. But what did they need it for? The bottom of the ocean? Does this mean it was an exploratory mission?

    Pier

  • Precision is the Key to Success

    Conductor

You want to learn the Captain’s destination? It’s simple: look for the Course-Charting Board. Don’t let the name fool you: this device looks like a compass, but it’s 10 times more complex.

Good job, my friend! We have the board for charting the ship’s course. Hmm... It looks like the Captain headed for the west coast of the Atlantic. Did he want to relax in the sun?

    Pier

  • The Correct Course

    Conductor

I was told that you’re trying to figure out where the frigate came from. As a Conductor, I can give you a couple of pointers. Wow! The ship looks equipped with all the latest technology of the 19th century. Look for a Diclinatrium on board. It can give us a clue about its course.

I look at this Diclinatrium and just want to give up trains and become a sailor! It looks like a compass, but it takes the deviation of the magnetic axis into consideration. Alas, it doesn’t contain any information about the last course.

    Pier

  • Ghost Ship

    Detective

The sea breeze reeks of a terrible mystery. It’s unbelievable that the whole crew could disappear without a trace! Who dispatched this ship from England? Why did a land-based army captain head this frigate? Finally, who sailed the ship to the Hotel’s harbor? I outlined a plan of investigation for us in the Investigation Diary. Time to get started!

  • What the Locks Remember

    Martha

The universal method of opening locks is just a step away! You’ve been a great help in finding the locks, and I’ve gathered all the data I needed from them. But now I need certain amplifying artifacts to interact with this subtle energy and, finally, reveal the universal method. Shall we?

Houdini used charms which gave "life" to each lock by giving them each a certain individuality. That is our universal method! By giving the locks a semblance of life, the illusionist unlocked them, but also left a "trace" behind. So, if you ever need to, now you’ll be able to open the most important lock in your life...

  • The Most Difficult Lock

    Martha

It’s as if each lock bears an imprint of life and individuality... I believe that’s the "key" to uncovering the way to open any lock. I remember now that Houdini used to boast about opening a very difficult Clock Face Lock. I’m sure that we’ll receive all the missing astral data if we add it to our analysis.

Excellent... those numbers on the lock complete my astral formula! Now the picture of Houdini’s universal method is almost complete. Come visit me later and I’ll share the results with you.

    Room of Fate

  • Lovers’ Secret Lock

    Lady Peacock

I spoke with Martha. She’s looking for strange locks with traces of magic in them. I know of one such lock: the Lily Lock. It starts emitting the sweetest scent on Monday evenings, and sometimes makes soulful sighs. I think that must be one of the locks that Martha needs.

What a wonderful flower the lock is adorned with! So beautiful... I wonder what it used to guard? Love letters, probably. I’ll give it to Martha. She’s asked that you continue the search.

    Collector's House

  • Mental Protection

    Martha

I’m continuing my study of Houdini’s methods, and it seems the picture is becoming clearer. I’m using the method of synoptic re-enactment to see how he worked with the locks. It turns out that one of the locks he opened was a Medium’s Lock! That one is of particular interest to me. Will you get the lock for me?

Houdini opened it in a blink... And I’ve been using one just like it to protect my notes! We shall study the Medium’s Lock closely. Please continue your search. We’re getting closer to uncovering the universal method of opening locks.

    Room of Fate

  • Threatening Roar

    Detective

I heard that Martha was looking for unusual locks. I immediately consulted my records and found information about a Lion Lock that has been seen roaring and scaring off uninvited guests. I think we should check it out.

Wow, a lock that roars like a lion! Excellent, I’ll pass it on to Martha for study, don’t worry. And thank you, my friend!

    Station

  • Previously-opened Locks

    Martha

He... is long gone. It occurred to me that if we collect the locks he once opened, we may be able to reveal the method he used. Then we would have a universal key, one which you and I may need one day. Find the locks for me. They still have some magic left within them, so they behave unusually.

The first find! This lock bears the imprint of the magic that was once used to open it. Just as I suspected, there was a subtle power in Houdini’s fingers, and I can see its traces in this lock.

    Room of Fate

  • Talisman of Kindness

    Martha

Those five cookies, in which Valerie has poured all her kindness and generosity, will help me create an amulet that brings prosperity to the people of the City of Shadows. Help me add some City magic by bringing a few artifacts, and the magical talisman will be ready.

Wonderful! We’ve received a Wish Amulet that will bring a bit of goodness and luck to our citizens. Now you just need to hang it over the entrance to City Hall. Thank you for your help. Here’s a small reward from the City’s leader.

  • Travel Treat

    Valerie

The Conductor isn’t very fond of feng shui, but surely he won’t refuse a delicious dessert? I think he’ll like the Path Cookie. Why not? He always finds himself at the crossroads of railroad tracks. It will be very symbolic. Bring him the cookie, please.

I’ve decided to coat the Path Cookie with white chocolate. Do you like it? And how about its taste? We should try it, just to make sure that the Conductor will like it. Okay, okay, I’ll bake another one for myself.

    Oriental Temple

  • A Treat From Confucius

    Valerie

I’ve put a dragon symbol on the next cookie. Confucius himself called it the symbol of a wise man. That’s the perfect cookie for Martha. Please bring her the Dragon Cookie.

The Dragon Cookie is a wish for wisdom. Take it to Martha. It turned out so cute, but I’m sad that it will be eaten. What’s that on top? Cherry icing? I should bake a cookie like this for myself as well. I love cherries.

    Oriental Temple

  • Gift from the Heart

    Juliette

Valerie has a good idea - to make wish cookies with Chinese characters for the City’s residents. I’ve been thinking... maybe we should give one to the Mistress? It seems like she’s always left out. I think that a Happiness Cookie may please the Mistress and soften her temper.

Wow, it’s beautiful! A sugar cookie covered with marmalade, and decorated with a wish for happiness! Are you sure that this symbol means happiness? I wouldn’t want to give the Mistress a cookie with some unpleasant inscription.

    Oriental Temple

  • With All One’s Heart

    Valerie

The next cookie I baked is a blessing for Isabelle. What? Her parents are not in the City, and life can be hard without parents. Bring her the cookie with wishes of blessings and happiness. Let’s cheer Isabelle up.

Wow, that’s more of a blessing cake than a cookie! And the symbol is so complex. Mmm, it’s covered with apricot jam. How delicious! Maybe I should keep it and not give it to Isabelle? Just joking...

    Oriental Temple

  • Sweet Luck

    Valerie

I’ve baked some cookies for the City’s residents, with wishes in the form of Chinese characters. Any of them would be happy to receive such a treat with their morning coffee. I did my very best! Will you help me deliver the cookies? Cardsharp will definitely be pleased with a wish for luck.

I painted the symbol for luck on this cookie using caramel. I think it turned out just fine: a shortbread cookie with lime jelly. Delicious and heart-warming. Cardsharp will be pleased.

  • Chess Talent

    Cardsharp

My dear friend! I’m extremely glad that you helped me find the chess pieces that belonged to famous chess players. By combining their power with the magic of the City, I will become the greatest grand master, and defeat Robi Schiefer. Will you do me a favour and bring me some unifying artifacts? I promise to reward you for your efforts!

They look beautiful, these two armies facing each other on a chessboard, their future battlefield. Don’t you agree? And I, the conductor of this battle, its mastermind and leader. The chess set we found makes me a brilliant strategist! Robi Schiefer won’t stand a chance and I will win this game!

  • Castle or Rook

    Cardsharp

We only have one more chess piece to find. There’s still some confusion regarding its name. Because of translation issues, it can be called a castle, tower, rook, or even a chariot. Find me the rook of the Prussian King Frederick the Great and I’ll finally be able to defeat Robi Schiefer!

Here it is, Frederick the Great’s Rook. You know, he played chess with Voltaire himself. Well, they played by correspondence, but that doesn’t diminish his talent, does it? Plus, it gives you some more time to think.

  • Warhorse

    Cardsharp

I think I could really use Tamerlane’s talent. This warlord was so passionate about chess that he even introduced some changes to the game. The new rules were forgotten after his death, though. Please find me Tamerlane’s Knight.

You’ve found the knight from Tamerlane’s chess set! Amazing! I can even feel the power and strength contained in that small chess piece from a distance.

  • Mighty Queen

    Cardsharp

In the Middle Ages, Queen Isabella of Castile changed the rules of chess so that this piece became the strongest and could cross any number of squares horizontally, vertically or diagonally. I’m talking about the queen, of course. Bring me Queen Isabella’s Queen Piece.

You continue to amaze me! You found Queen Isabella of Castile’s queen piece so quickly! This amazing woman was able to change the age-old rules of chess and made the queen the most powerful piece... deadly and majestic in her movements.

  • Diagonal Move

    Cardsharp

To defeat Robi Schiefer, I really need the talent of Vita Minchik, the world’s first female chess champion. Her favourite chess piece was called a jester; also know as the bishop, archer, officer, and even elephant. Bring me Vita Minchik’s Bishop.

You are a discoverer like no other! We have Vita Minchik’s Bishop! Did you know she’s so famous that the World Chess Olympiad Cup is named after her? What if a victory over Robi Schiefer brings me the same fame? Who knows? Cardsharp’s Cup doesn’t sound bad at all.

  • Chess Infantry

    Cardsharp

To defeat Robi Schiefer, I want to play the game using the chess pieces of famous chess players. Each of them had a piece that best conveyed his strength and skills. For instance, Richelieu, a powerful French cardinal, ruled people like pawns, playing brilliant games both on the board and off. His manipulation strategy will be useful. Please bring me Richelieu’s Pawns.

You’ve found the pawns of Cardinal Richelieu so quickly? Outstanding! Did you know that the cardinal loved to play chess with the King of France, and often won? I’ll need talent like that in my game against Robi Schiefer.

  • WAY TO THE TREASURE

    Amina

Now that we’ve found all the parrots, we just need to help the captain make them talk and draw up a treasure map. We may need artifacts to draw the map. Please bring some while I calm the birds with treats!

The emerald macaw reported a rare sea route, the white macaw remembered a secret bay, and the hyacinth macaw mentioned a deep grotto... It worked! Now the ship’s captain has his treasure map, and I can finally take his parrots. Thank you for helping me find the birds!

  • WHITE BIRD

    Amina

I hope we find all the scattered parrots quickly! The captain will get the location of the treasure from them, and I’ll take the birds home. They are more valuable to me than any treasures! We need to find a white macaw. It should be somewhere nearby...

And here is the white macaw! Thank you for finding it so quickly. The captain said this bird knows the most important bits of information about where the treasure is hidden. We need to get it to him quick!

    Pier

  • GREEN BIRD

    Amina

I’ve always dreamed of having tropical parrots, and was so happy when the captain said I could take his birds as soon as they told him the location of the treasure! I remember there was an emerald macaw among the parrots... Will you look for it with me?

The emerald macaw seems to be the most unperturbed of all: it kept calmly preening its feathers even when I put it on my hand. Give me a minute, please, I’ll take the bird to the captain and immediately get back to the search.

    Pier

  • GOLDEN BIRD

    Amina

I’ve heard that captains always keep their promises. So, if we manage to get the information from the birds as promised, he’ll definitely give me the bird. Have you seen the blue-and-yellow macaw? Please help me look for it.

How did you manage to find the blue-and-yellow macaw so quickly? Thank you! I’ll take the bird to the captain right away. Let him bribe it with fruit to find out the location of the treasure while we continue our search. Thank you for helping me!

  • A RARE PARROT

I can’t wait to find the scattered parrots and take them home. But first, the ship’s captain needs to locate his treasure. He said a hyacinth macaw knows an important part of the information. Let’s find it!

Just look at this hyacinth macaw - its feathers shimmer in the sun like gems! And it’s completely tame. It immediately perched on my hand when I called it. Wait, I’ll take the bird to the ship’s captain and be right back.

  • HUGE PARROT

    Amina

As soon as we collect the five scattered parrots and they tell the captain how to find the treasure, I can take these beautiful birds. You should see how beautiful and smart they are! The first and perkiest is the scarlet macaw. Please help me find it.

You found the scarlet macaw! How can I thank you? I’ll immediately take this parrot to the captain so he can get part of the information he needs. The sooner we return all the birds, the faster the captain will give them to me and my house will be filled with bird voices...

  • Trapped Snakes

    Martha

This incident with the snakes is a result of the unique magical effect of the Ophiuchus constellation that happens once every 700 years. I’ve studied it, and I have an artifact that can control the energy of the Ophiuchus constellation, but I will need City artifacts to activate it. I call it the "Snake Lock."

Thank you! This magical lock will protect the City from a snake invasion. As I’ve said before, snake bites are not a problem for witches. If you ever need any anti-venom for snakes, centipedes, fog mosquitos, or mosquito eaters, I can help. Yes, but did you know that human malice can bring all kinds of poisonous creatures from the astral plane?

  • A Snoop for the Detective

    Detective

Ah, yes, snakes. Martha has been asking people to take them in. I’ve heard they can talk, or are at least very smart. Well, maybe a snake like that could listen to me when I return home after a hard day of investigating... Bring me a Whip Snake. I like them.

Thank you! What do you think - maybe I can train this Whip Snake to pick up a trail? Have you ever heard of police snakes? Maybe this will be my special skill. Ah, what would old Billy say...

  • A Beauty for Juliette

    Juliette

Adopt a snake at Martha’s request? I’m not sure, mon cher. But I’ve heard that the Mistress has a cobra now. I think I should have a snake as well, in that case. And I guess it will have to be venomous, too... Find me the most beautiful kind... A Coral Snake, for example.

Thank you! Put the snake in a tank or something... Will I ever be able to touch it? Ew... That’s not easy!

  • Bracelet for Valerie

    Valerie

Wow, a snake! That’s cool! It’s a great idea to find the snakes new homes. I’m sure nobody would turn one down. It’s such an unusual thing! Can I choose one for myself? Awesome! Find me a Green Snake. They’re so cute!

You can hold a Green Snake in you hands or wear it as a bracelet! Wow! I’m sure we’ll be good friends! Thank you. Which snakes are still left? Eh, whatever, I’ll check later.

  • A Partner for Cardsharp

    Cardsharp

Having a pet snake is rather exquisite. I owe old Martha a favour, which is why I agreed. There’s also something about having a snake.

Thank you. Although, is it wise to thank someone for a Rattlesnake? If it’s smart and has a tail, maybe it can humour me with a quick game of whist.

  • Strong Stuff for the Mistress

    Mistress

Martha wants me to take in a snake? What is she hinting at? I won’t let her forget this! Although... there are probably some snakes with a strong... Huh, that’s a thought. Find me a Cobra. Yes, a Cobra. I’m sure it won’t bite you.

A lovely creature! It will look good in my bedroom. Do you happen to know what it eats? Doesn’t matter, we’ll find something to feed it... Thank you.

  • PREPARATIONS

    Huntress

You’ve helped me find almost everything for my trip underground. Now I just need to put my gear in a good hiking backpack. Will you help me find some artifacts so I can pack everything neatly and lower the weight of my equipment?

Mein Freund, take a look at this backpack! The power of the artifacts made it much lighter, and I have easy access to all my tools, including my shovel, lamp, and pick. Thank you! Now I can once more protect the City from underground threats.

  • HIKING TOOL

    Huntress

I’m a monster hunter, not a treasure digger, but I still need a sturdy hiking shovel. In the dungeons, this tool can be used as a travel aid, to clear rubble, and as a weapon. Please help me find the right hiking shovel.

With a shovel like this I can venture into the most unstable tunnels. Even if something goes wrong, I’ll be able to get out. Thank you so much for helping me. Do you know what else is good about this shovel? It’s very light, so I can carry more supplies with me!

    Angel Statue

  • SHARP PICK

    Huntress

A pick is more than an excavation or climbing tool. The right pick with a silver-plated blade can be a great help when fighting man-hunting monsters. Will you help me find a pick suitable for both travel and battle?

Mein Freund, this pick is even better than the one I had, and my previous tool was made by an arms master! Where did you find it? I can’t wait to cover its blade and sharp end with silver to protect myself from werewolves if need be.

    Angel Statue

  • DOWNWARDS

    Huntress

Mein Freund, it would be much easier if all the City tunnels were on the same level, but fate decided otherwise. Cave-ins, underground water, and disturbances change the layout of the dungeons. Will you help me find a strong rope to rappel safely?

What an amazing rope! It’s strong, durable, and smooth but not slippery. This is exactly what the rope of a caver or climber should look like. Thanks for helping me with my search. You’re also contributing to the safety of the City.

  • A LABYRINTH OF PATHWAYS

    Huntress

The second no less important thing is a dungeon map. Every cataclysm that struck the City of Shadows has left deep scars hidden from our eyes. Without accurate navigation, you could get lost in the tunnels forever. Let’s look for the dungeon map.

I can’t believe you found a recently updated dungeon map! Not every cartographer would go down into the gloomy depths to gather new data. Thank you, now I’m sure I won’t get lost in the City dungeons.

  • HUNTRESS’S BATTLE

    Huntress

You must’ve seen the tunnels under the City and know how dark it can be down there. Fighting monsters in such conditions without a good lamp is like trying to kill air. Can you help me find a good hand lamp?

Mein Freund, the lamp you found is a real treasure. It’s comfortable, durable, and can hold a lot of fuel. Just what I need to work in the dark!\n Such lamps are best worn on a belt. It frees your hands and lets you clearly see your path.

  • Hunter’s Trophy

    Mistress

The spirits of my former husbands dared to hunt in my chambers? They need to be dealt with radically... and I know how. They’ve caused so much turmoil. I have someone’s old trophy and some hunter’s set of antlers lying around. Let’s give the spirits their reward! Ha! Aren’t I a genius? To draw the ghosts’ attention, we’ll need several small artifacts.

The Manor is silent once again, and I don’t hear any French Horns, no Hunting Horns... in fact no horns at all! At last! I never liked those antlers anyway... It looks like the ghosts dropped several magical items. I think you’ve earned a small reward. Take them and remember my generosity.

  • Trumpets of Tribulation

    Juliette

You got scolded by the Mistress too! I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to cause trouble! We only have one more of those annoying horns to find. Please help me! It sounds like a French Horn. Go find it and I’ll be forever in your debt!

I’m immensely grateful to you! Thank you for finding the French Horn! I’m hoping this will put an end to the ghost hunt in our Manor... Although, the Mistress was reading the Black Book of Spirits the other day... I’m afraid of what she may find in there. What do we do?!

  • Horn Blower’s Revenge

    Mistress

Why can’t anyone in this Manor follow orders!? I asked the maid to find and throw out all the hunting horns, yet now you’re looking for them! Oh, Juliette! "Ah, mon ami!" She should have been looking for those trumpets instead of chatting! All that noise is making my head split! I’m hearing a Dual-Tone Horn. It’s revolting!

Give me that wretched instrument and let Juliette take it away! When will those hunters get out of here? What have I done to them? Didn’t I love each and every one of them?

    Bedroom

  • Chilling Sounds

    Juliette

The "ghost hunt" continues... It’s impossible to sleep in the Manor, and the Mistress loves the quiet so much. Oh, did you hear that? That’s another horn! Let’s follow the sound! The sound seems to be coming from right inside her bedroom... I’m so scared of going in, the air in there is heavy with something... Could you please...?

You’ve found the Hunting Horn! Excellent! I hope the Mistress will be happy when the Manor is quiet again.

  • Avengers with Horns

    Juliette

The ghost hunt here in the Manor continues... Could it be that the spirits are doing this to take revenge on the Mistress? This is insufferable! Let’s look for more of those hunting horns the ghosts are using...

Thank you for your help! I’ll hide this horn somewhere and stuff it with rags so that it makes no sound. Please continue looking for the horns.

  • Trouble in the Manor

    Juliette

Hunting horns are howling all over the Manor. I can hear dogs barking and shots being fired somewhere in the distance. The spirits of the Mistress’s former husbands are indulging in a ghostly hunt right inside our Manor! The Mistress is furious. She’s ordered me to collect all their horns and stop this ruckus, but I can’t do it alone. Please help me, mon ami!

It’s wonderful that you’ve found this trumpet. But we need to continue the search, or the ghosts won’t stop pestering us. I’m afraid that the Mistress will take her anger out on me. Please, don’t stop looking!

  • Unique Ritual

    Martha

I’ve been trying to complete my Beauty Elixir, a concoction that dispels evil magic, for many years. Today, after countless experiments and futile attempts, I’ve finally realised what I need to do. All the ingredients are ready, but I need to add a small amount of the City’s magic.\n Bring me a couple of City artifacts and you will receive a vial of my magic potion.

Using the artifacts that you’ve collected, I performed a witching ritual, added a pinch of magic to the concoction in my pot, and now my Beauty Elixir is ready! So take one vial of the elixir as a gift from me... I’m certain that you’ll find a worthwhile use for it.

  • Sea Developer

    Detective

My friend, I’m investigating a case that involves ghosts, and I need some dust of magical emerald seaweed. You see, we can reveal ghosts’ auras by sprinkling this dust over objects that the ghosts have interacted with.\n I’ve heard that you’ve gotten pretty good lately at finding various magical potions and ingredients. Maybe you could find the seaweed for me?

A whole vial of magical seaweed! Thank you, my friend! I’ll quickly crush them up and continue my investigation. I hope the traces of the ghosts that are revealed will help me find some answers.

  • Antidote for the Aroma

    Valerie

Help me! I bought some perfume at the Troll Market, and they promised me it would knock everyone off their feet. But when I sprayed myself with it, everyone around me started to faint, and I can’t get this perfume to wear off! Isabelle says that it can only be washed away with moon water. Please, can you find a vial of it for me?

Did you find the moon water? Hooray! You’re my hero! I’ll hurry home and rinse my hair with it so that I can finally wash away this horrid perfume. Don’t come too close or you’ll faint from the smell too. I’ll be damned if I ever buy anything from those trolls again!

    Isabelle

I need your help again.\n My skills as a potion maker are not that great, but I’m trying to master the art. It’s important to choose a good recipe. I once saw Martha making an Infusion of Lucidity, and I’ve decided to make such an infusion myself. I need some coral extract to make it, but I don’t know where to find it. Maybe you could search for some?

You’ve found the coral extract! Thank you! Now I’ll be able to complete the Infusion of Lucidity based on Martha’s recipe. I hope to one day be as good as her with all these potions... The Medium and I don’t always get along, but I cannot deny her skill as a potion maker.

  • Sand of Time

    Huntress

Mein freund, I hear that you’ve helped Cardsharp find the potion he needed. Would you be so kind as to find a certain magical ingredient for me?\n I’m working on a new weapon to use on mummies, but I need a flask containing the sand of time. I’d be incredibly grateful if you could help me find it. Will you find the flask with the sand of time before the mummies overrun the City?

A flask with the sand of time! Just what I needed. Excellent, mein freund. Thank you for your help. Now I’ll be able to complete my weapon. The mummies have become very active lately, for some reason. I’m not surprised, considering the instability of the City’s magical field...

My precious friend, I brought up magical potions for a reason. I need one, as a matter of fact.\n Boggarts snuck into my house and cursed my favourite deck of cards. I can’t even pick them up anymore! Isabelle said that the curse can be lifted, but for that the deck needs to be sprinkled with mermaid tears. Could you look for a vial of them?

You’ve found the vial with the mermaid tears! Thank you, my dear friend! I’m off to see Isabelle right now so that she can help lift the curse from my deck of cards. I hope that I’ll finally start winning again with this deck, since I’ve already lost three poker games in a row!

  • Final Touches

    Isabelle

We’ll help the Artist’s ghost finish his graduation project by using all the pencils we found, along with several of the City’s artifacts. I can’t do it alone. Will you help me? Bring the artifacts, and I’ll prepare everything else.

Look, a drawing has appeared on the canvas. This must be the graduation project of the Artist’s ghost. I hope that he’ll now find peace and stop visiting Valerie’s dreams. But look at the man in the portrait... he looks so much like Jacob! Another mystery... We find traces of Jacob not only in the past, but also in parallel realities. I’ll think about this riddle when I have time, but in the meantime, you’re entitled to a reward for your active participation. Here, take it.

  • Let’s Add Some Colour

    Valerie

The Artist’s ghost is very pleased. We’ve nearly found all of his pencils. He’s now asked me to bring him a Coloured Pencil. That should be a simple task, right? Bring the Coloured Pencil and let’s finish this job.

Here you are, and you have my ghost’s Coloured Pencil. Now that all of his lost pencils have been found, he’ll stop coming to me in my dreams. I don’t know if I’m happy or sad about that.

    Laboratory

  • Delicate Strokes

    Valerie

The Artist’s ghost from my dreams is becoming more and more talkative. I’ll probably miss him when we return all his pencils and he stops visiting me. He has asked me to find a Mechanical Pencil. Please help me look for it.

It turns out that the Mechanical Pencil you found is called that because of the mechanical way the lead comes out. But the lead itself is made of graphite, same as ordinary pencils. So much for having an impressive name!

    Laboratory

  • Precious Tool

    Valerie

I’ve almost befriended the Artist’s ghost from my dreams, and he no longer scares me. Last night, he asked me to return a Silver Needle. That’s a special painting tool. I hope you can find it.

The Silver Needle, excellent! This tool is used to make drawings on a specially treated surface. During the Renaissance, for example, the canvas was covered with bone dust. It took a long time to master this drawing technique as it’s impossible to fix lines once they’ve been drawn. They cannot be erased.

    Laboratory

  • Coal Trace

    Valerie

I keep seeing the Artist’s ghost, the one who wants his pencils back. Isabelle told me to put the pencils we find under my pillow before I go to sleep, and the ghost seems to like that. This time, he asked me for an Italian Pencil. Please find it.

The pencil, which is so pompously called "Italian", is actually made of black clay or pressed soot with some glue mixed in. That’s what the Artist’s ghost told me last night. Very interesting...

    Laboratory

  • Renaissance Pencil

    Isabelle

A ghost from Valerie’s dream that wants his pencils back? That’s a funny story. Our girl must have stuck her curious nose where she shouldn’t have and disturbed the ghost of an Artist. There’s only one way to banish a ghost like that: we need to return the pencils that Valerie lost. Look closely. They must be somewhere around here.

You’ve found the Sanguine! Not quite a pencil, but I think it will do. It’s a deep reddish-brown colour. Leonardo da Vinci himself used it to make sketches from life. The Sanguine is good for drawing lifelike skin tones so that the pictures look more natural.

  • Remove the Curse

    Huntress

You now have all the amulets. The final step is to place them in the Conquistador’s Helmet - the helmet of the first discoverer. Conquistadors spend their lives searching for new lands, treasures, and much more. Place the amulets in the helmet along with some City artifacts. This will lift the curse.

The Conquistador’s Helmet gave you all the amulets’ attributes. Do you feel it? Your strength is restored!

  • Never Ending Search

    Huntress

The final amulet is the Stamina Amulet, filled with the power of the Wanderer - the eternal vagabond; restlessly searching for valuable artifacts. His tirelessness will greatly help you in your search.

    Huntress

Mummies are diabolical and unfeeling monsters. A discoverer could use their courage. To strengthen this quality, find the Courage Amulet.

Yes, this is the Courage Amulet. With it you’re guaranteed courage; which is an absolute necessity for a discoverer.

Ghosts are beings from another world. They have greater astral sensitivity. You call this gift intuition. To restore this attribute, find the Intuition Amulet.

You have the Intuition Amulet? Great! Now it’ll be easier for you to find the remaining amulets.

  • Wolf Power

    Huntress

Werewolves can share power with you. It’s absolutely necessary for a discoverer. Search for the Power Amulet.

A Power Amulet with a werewolf fang... It wasn’t easy to get, was it? By now you have enough strength to find the remaining amulets.

  • Stone Watchers

    Huntress

To restore your strength you must first find the Awareness Amulet made of gargoyle skin. These stone statues sit on roofs for long periods of time, vigilantly watching for valuable artifacts. Awareness is a valuable quality for a gargoyle.

Oh, you found the Awareness Amulet? It will help in future searches.

  • False Bottom

    Cardsharp

I’m sure that this false bottom is carefully disguised. We’ll need to assemble all the important Mafia items that we’ve found during the investigation and connect them to City artifacts. So, what do you think about this little trick?

Look, there’s a safe in here! It could’ve easily gone unnoticed! Oh, it’s really heavy. It must be brimming with gold, money and other "fleeting" values that I love so much. Let me try and open it. Shall we split the contents fairly or the way con artists do? Ha ha ha!
