Hidden City Walkthrough

Quest

These are the story/quests featured in Hidden City. There is a vast number of stories, and please note that the order and categories are unorganized, so it might be a bit difficult to navigate. Thank you for your understanding.

  • Interplanetary Transport

    Cardsharp

My dear friend, an exceedingly intriguing idea just came to me. One thing from the future could just be the City playing a joke; two or three is chance; four is coincidence, but five is a pattern. If you find a fifth item, then we’ll be absolutely certain that the Master, whose Laboratory of Time we have the honour of being in, has travelled to the future!

Oh my god! Well, I’ll be a monkey’s uncle! If it’s not a spaceship model. My friend, do you understand what this means? You have proven that the person who created the laboratory of Time travelled not only to the past, but also into the future!

    Laboratory

  • Personal World

    Huntress

Mein freund, we can firmly say that the Master, who created the Laboratory of Time, travelled to the past. But to say that his next step was to travel to the future, will need more proof. Find an item brought back by the Master. Will it turn out to be from the future?

What a puzzling thing. Judging by the material, the Master obviously brought it back from the future, and according to Valerie’s enthusiastic screams, it’s called a Virtual Reality Helmet for gaming. It’s placed on the head? Let’s try it... Nothing has changed, only I somehow see myself on the streets of the City of Shadows. And a gargoyle is flying at me! Where’s my sling? Take this, creature!

    Laboratory

  • 3D Image

    Martha

An incredible place, this Laboratory of Time, and no less mysterious is its Master who created it! Did he really travel into the future? Locate the next item and confirm or refute our assumption.

Oh, I’m afraid even I don’t know what this thing is. Hmm. I can definitely say that it’s safe, and if you press the button... Look! Our Earth has appeared above its surface! It looks like the astral bodies that I invoke! The blue translucent sphere spins, shows us continents, magnifies Europe, its countries and cities, a green dot blinks somewhere near Italy, and... It’s all gone! What was it?

    Laboratory

  • Flight on a Board

    Alex

Valerie’s just a cutie, right? And always sharing interesting ideas! I watched a movie about travelling to the future, well, before I became so... see through. Anyways, the main character flew on an anti-gravity board. Do you want to look for something similar?

Wow! You’ve found a flying skateboard! Not that I couldn’t fly, but with a skateboard it seems more human. Strange, why won’t it work? Ah, yes... On the reverse side it says: "Hoverboard. Use over a water surface." It’s a pity, I would have taken it for a spin.

    Laboratory

  • Language Barrier

    Isabelle

Valerie’s like a child, for heaven’s sake! Just look at how she’s running around the laboratory. Thank heavens she’s not touching anything else... Now back to the Master’s research. He went into the past, so maybe the next step was to travel into the future? If you find objects from the future, this will confirm my theory and point us towards where to go next so we can ultimately learn why the Laboratory of Time was created.

A curious thing you found: a multi-faced bracelet in which floats phrases in different languages - German, French, Chinese.... even in Esperanto! I know what kind of bracelet it is! It’s a universal translator because Esperanto is a universal language, which was invented in the 19th century. Will we really all speak it?

    Laboratory

  • Explorer in the Depths of Time

    Martha

The ritual is complete, and I’m amazed by what materialised in my hands! It’s the Sphere of Events, an artifact that helped the Master travel back in time! I feel a powerful aura emanating from it. A power the likes of which I’ve never felt before.\n And here are the Master’s records, which he hid along side the sphere. What do they say? Read fast!

  • A Wager on Diamonds

    Isabelle

I think I know how to get solid proof that the lab’s owner actually visited the past.\n Find the Order of the Bath that, according to the Master, he won from Admiral Nelson in a card game. If the order really is in the laboratory, we won’t have any more reason to doubt that the Master is more than a simple collector of antiques.

The same legendary knight’s cross of the Order of the Bath, which granted Nelson nobility and the rank of Rear Admiral! You actually found it! Now I have no doubt about it: The Master is a real time traveller!

    Laboratory

  • Left-Handed Notebook

    Detective

If the Master was the genius, crackpot scientist that I consider him to be, he could make a Philosopher’s Stone entirely by himself. Look for something the Master couldn’t create on his own or buy from collectors - something he could only pull from the past. Maybe an item belonging to a famous historical person, but was considered lost?

Whoa! These are the legendary records of Leonardo da Vinci! He made a lot of records using mirror writing, thereby encrypting the secrets of his inventions. After da Vinci’s death, the records were scattered throughout Europe, and many were lost... The Master could only get his hands on them in the past!

    Laboratory

  • A Few Drops of Immortality

    Cardsharp

Dear friend, if you continue to search for evidence that the Master travelled to the past, may I be so bold as to give you one piece of advice.\n Isabelle rightly noted that the Master’s speeches are delivered with some delusion of grandeur. I believe that such a person would have tried to find the famous Philosopher’s Stone in the past. Will you try to find the stone in the laboratory?

Excellent, my friend! You found the famous Philosopher’s Stone. It bestows immortality and turns any metal into gold. Even I would learn to travel to the past just to visit the alchemists of ancient times for such a thing!

    Laboratory

  • Eureka!

    Isabelle

The ankh we found suggests that the Master learned to travel into the past. But one ankh isn’t enough proof.\n Judging from his notes, the Master was a person who... um... let’s say, was convinced of his own greatness. Such a person would surely have taken some legendary object from the past. Search for something like this in the laboratory?

You did it! This crown is very similar to the famous crown of the King of Syracuse! King Hiero asked Archimedes to determine its true composition, and as a result, with this very crown Archimedes formulated his famous principle of buoyancy... Did the Master really bring it back with him from the past?

    Laboratory

  • Symbol of Eternal Life

    Martha

You really managed to find something interesting! It’s a Golden Ankh, the symbol of eternal life and a treasure from Ancient Egypt. It must be a few thousand years old, but it’s in impeccable condition. It’s as if the Master personally received it from an Egyptian priest only yesterday!

    Laboratory

  • Free-Wheeling Directions

    Isabelle

  • A Fight Inside Out

    Martha

It seems you were almost convinced that the City had revealed to us the abode of a scientist who studied time. But since you need conclusive evidence, I’ll tell you how to find one of the pieces.\n I saw a strange bell when I was looking around the laboratory. Why is it strange? You’ll understand when you find it. I believe that all your doubts will fall away after this... Find the bell and bring it to me.

Yes, this is the same bell that I was talking about. It strikes itself every hour, and... hush, listen, it struck again just now... Did you hear it? At the beginning, there’s an echo that becomes louder, and only after is the ringing heard. This bell rings in reverse! Do we need any other evidence that the secrets of time were discovered in this lab?

    Laboratory

  • Tireless Rings

    Isabelle

It’s not difficult to make a clock with hands go in the opposite direction. I’m still not convinced that the City has revealed the real Laboratory of Time to us. We need to look for something truly unusual: a familiar item that would violate the usual order of things... for example, that acts against the laws of physics. Can you find something like that among all these devices?

Newton’s Cradle, which never stops! Wonderful. That’s just what I had in mind. Just look at it! Could the laboratory’s owner have invented this legendary perpetual motion device? But how was he able to overcome the law of energy conservation?

    Laboratory

  • Mirrored Movement

    Valerie

I know what to look for. A magical clock! If I decided to study time, it would be the first thing I’d collect. It’s impossible to carry out experiments on time without a clock, right? And if the experiments are magical, maybe the clock is magical too!\n Look for a clock, the likes of which we’ve never seen before. Just be careful, we don’t want you turning into a baby!

A clock that goes backwards! Well done! Do you need more proof that the laboratory’s owner was studying time? I don’t know how he was able to turn back time, but he did. A master at his craft, wouldn’t you say!

    Laboratory

  • Guarantee of Precision

    Juliette

Mon ami, if time truly was studied in the laboratory, its owner had to use a clock. Look for some kind of magical time piece. And hurry, I beg you! I just saw the century-old oak near the castle become a young seedling! We need to hurry and understand what kind of place we’re in. The City is in danger, and we’re on the wrong track?

You did it, mon ami! You have the Floating Tourbillon in your hands. This piece ensures the accuracy of a mechanical clock’s motion. But why is it glowing? I’m sure this piece helped the laboratory’s owner create a magical clock, which he then used in his studies!

    Laboratory

  • Travel Companion

    Detective

Interesting thing you’ve found, pal. I think it’s called "Kepler’s Calendar". An old invention that’s still in use today, a calendar that fits any year. Clearly this thing was often in use: just look at how worn the discs are! I wonder, how did this calendar help the owner of the Laboratory in time experiments?

    Laboratory

  • Yet Another Paradox

    Detective

The leaves on the trees are turning into buds, and the pavement in the City square is crumbling into sand. Are these time anomalies somehow related to the secret laboratory in the Black Castle? Rumours say that this place holds a secret that is dangerous to City residents... There’s certainly something to ponder here. Look in the investigation book, my friend: it wouldn’t hurt to briefly summarise all the information we have so far.

  • Pomegranate Rain

    Martha

Do you remember that Juliette bought the berries at the Troll Market? It turns out they were enchanted. Trolls can’t grow real berries, so they make them out of gems. When the enchanted berries showed up in the City, they "infected" all of our fruit. But I can fix everything, I just need the berries you collected and several urban artifacts. Bring them, please.

With your help, I created a Vitamin Bomb. It looks like a pomegranate with enchanted gem seeds. We must detonate it at the highest point in the City, for instance, on the roof of the Station. Then its contents will scatter across the entire area and the spell on all gem fruit will be broken and they’ll become real, delicious fruit full of vitamins again and the City’s residents will be saved.

  • Search for Evidence

    Martha

I think I figured out why all the delicious and healthy fruit in the City turned into gems. But, we need some evidence. For proof we need to find another berry made from a gem. For example, look for blueberries.

The blueberry is also a gem? Yes, yes, I see. Lapis lazuli is very beautiful, but not nutritious. My suspicions are confirmed. Soon I’ll name you the reason for the berries’ transformation into gems.

    Troll Market

  • Missing Medicine

    Valerie

Just listen to what happened to me! I wanted to eat a Sea Buckthorn berry, but it was very hard. I almost broke my teeth. It wasn’t a berry, it was a gem resembling a berry. You don’t believe me? Bring the Sea Buckthorn berries and see for yourself.

See, I wasn’t lying about the Sea Buckthorn gem. Who could have the time and energy to carve fruit out of carnelian? Unfortunately, we cannot find real, fresh Sea Buckthorn. It can treat burns and it contains loads of vitamins.

    Troll Market

  • Not Even a Single Berry

    Cardsharp

Dear friends! It's wrong to accuse me behind my back! I'm not involved in turning the berries into gems. Even though the idea is very enticing... I even tried a Quartz Currant. I tried to eat it, but was unable to. Bring some and see for yourself.

See, not even a single one is a real berry! Solid rose quartz! That being said, the berries are so masterfully crafted. They look entirely real. I would give back all these gems for just one ripe berry. Honestly!

    Troll Market

  • Experiments in a Bowl

    Isabelle

Do you think the transformation of berries into gems is the work of Cardsharp? It's a very quick and easy way to get rich. I saw Cardsharp with a bowl full of gooseberries. Bring some. Let's see what sort of magic was used here.

Ah, yes, this is the same Gooseberry I saw Cardsharp with! It seems these berries are also fake. They’re made from peridot. Is it possible Cardsharp found a way to turn the fruit into gems and in turn deprived the citizens of real berries?

    Troll Market

  • Appetising Decoy

    Martha

Juliette wasn't kidding about the widespread vitamin deficiency. Someone has played a cruel joke on us. All the nutritious berries have transformed into gems. Yet you only realise this when you put them in your mouth. If you don't believe me, bring some appetizing lingonberries here.

What beautiful Lingonberries! They're cut from coral. A pity that they're useless. I tried to eat one but nearly choked. Real berries, on the other hand, can be used to make restorative juices and fruit drinks full of vitamins.

    Troll Market

  • Mushroom Beast

    Isabelle

The time has come to start growing Plasmodium. The process is long and painstaking and requires a lot of magical energy. You need to get your hands on City artifacts to water it. And don’t go too far! To grow a Mushroom Beast for the first time, your multi-faceted talents would come in handy.

Our painstaking work has borne fruit. We grew Plasmodium! What remains is to move the container with the Mushroom Beast to the City centre, where it will be closer to the black fog and will begin to spread. After all, this fog is the result of black magic, and it’s filled with the citizens’ negative energy and emotions. It’s the best food ever for Plasmodium.

  • Poisonous Hallucinogen

    Isabelle

They say that the Aztec emperor Montezuma saw the "light of God descend from Heaven" in Cortez after breathing in the smoke of burnt mushrooms. Don’t be surprised. These hallucinogens are often used to "talk with the gods." Find the Red Amanita, the final ingredient for growing Plasmodium.

Excellent, the Red Amanita! Norwegian berserkers drank its broth before battle. It gave them courage, strength, speed and stamina. All this is necessary to fight the dungeon’s black fog. We’ll use the mushroom to make a broth to water the Plasmodium.

    Witches' Abode

  • Mana of Morel

    Isabelle

We need a genuine Morel to create Plasmodium. Look for it, but be careful. Never confuse it with the Gyromitra esculenta mushroom, which is deathly poisonous. And beware of the black fog! Without Plasmodium, we are powerless against it.

I never expected such fresh fresh a Morel. While you are searching for the final ingredient, I'll have time to dehydrate and grind it. Put a couple of spells on this powder - and the mana of Plasmodium would almost never deplete. This is very important for fighting the fog.

    Witches' Abode

  • Trumpet of Death

    Isabelle

To create the Plasmodium that will devour the black fog, you need to find the mushroom that the French call the Trumpet of Death and the English call the Horn of Plenty. They are black chanterelles but Golden Chanterelles will also work.

You brought Golden Chanterelles. There must be no black chanterelles left in the City. These will also work. It’ll just take a little more time to transfer the protective properties to Plasmodium.

    Witches' Abode

  • Poisonous Delicacy

    Isabelle

We have to hurry because the black fog is rapidly extending its devastating reach. We need to quickly create Plasmodium. To do this, we need another specific mushroom - the Green Caesar. Look for it urgently.

I am astonished yet again by your speed. You brought the Green Caesar mushroom! These mushrooms are named after Julius Caesar, who loved them. Agrippina, wife of the Roman Emperor Claudius, poisoned her husband with the deadly Green Caesar in order for her son Nero to ascend to the throne.

  • Food of the Gods

    Isabelle

The black fog from the dungeons has really filled the City. I found this passage in the "Damoclis gladius: Sword of Damocles" writings: "To defeat the black fog, Plasmodium, that feeds on negative emotions, no emotions may be used." So, this Plasmodium is part mushroom, part animal. Five particular mushrooms are needed to create it. First, find the rare Weeping Champignon.

In ancient Egypt, the Weeping Champignon was considered a "food of the gods," so only a pharaoh could eat it. Properly prepared mushrooms extended one's life for decades. Mere mortals were not even allowed to touch them. Now that customs are more relaxed, you can get a Weeping Champignon without risking your life.

    Witches' Abode

  • Dangerous Dreams

    Martha

So this is the Sweet Dream Shop, not a candy shop? It smells so nice... Chocolate, marzipan, cakes. But I don’t recommend you try these sweets - they’ll make you dream and you’ll want more every time. Let’s distract ourselves and find some artifacts.

Now that you know about the dangers of the Sweet Dream Shop, go in there and ask about the Half-Finger thief. I hope the Dream Seller knows where he is. We really need to catch him - spring is about to come, but the Sprout he stole is still missing.

  • Riding in Comfort

    Mistress

You’ve found interesting activities for everyone, but decided to pass me by? Soon the winter competitions will end and you didn’t even lift a finger for me! But today I’m feeling kind. It seems the spirit of Christmas is having an effect on me. Find me a Snowmobile and I’ll forgive your tardiness. Use the City’s artifacts to speed things up.

You found me a Snowmobile so quickly? And it’s the latest model? Unfortunately it’s pink, but it will do. It won’t stop me from taking first place in the winter competitions. You did all right with the assignment; so here’s your well-deserved reward.

  • Winter Extreme

    Huntress

Have you come across a Snowboard in your search? If you find one, bring it to me, bitte. This is my favourite winter sport. I’ll show everyone how to conquer the snowy slopes! Believe me, nobody will match me in the competitions!

Ah, a Snowboard! Danke schön! Give me a winter jumpsuit and the steepest mountain! I’m ready to conquer the dangerous slopes! Who’s not afraid to challenge me?

    Santa's Workshop

  • Descent from the Mountain

    Isabelle

I've heard rumors that you've decided to organise some winter competitions. Could you help me? Since I was a child, I've dreamt of riding a sled down the mountain. But somehow this has never happened. Find me a Sled so I can fulfill my childhood dream.

A Sled! You found me a sled! Thank you! The sledding stage begins soon. I’m off to the mountain.

    Santa's Workshop

  • Team Sports

    Detective

Winter in the City is a time for sports! The competitions that Valerie's organised have come at just the right time. I don't really like individual events, so let's find some equipment for curling. I think Juliette and I will make a great team!

A-ha, curling in the City! That’s great news! We need to put together a team. Are you with us? We’ll test our strength in the ice competitions!

    Santa's Workshop

  • Snow Runner

    Conductor

I heard you found some ice skates for little Valerie. Can you help me? I decided to take part in the skiing race. To speed around the glistening snow in a whirlwind of snowflakes... Ah, what beauty! Will you find some Skis for me?

An excellent pair of Skis! Thank you so much. I'll go warm up these old bones and ski like old times. Watch out, young people! The old Conductor is coming out of the slalom gates!

    Santa's Workshop

  • Figure Skating

    Valerie

Before I came to the City of Shadows, my father often took me to the ice skating rink. I loved to whirl around on the ice... I’m certain I’ll have no equal in the rink! Please find the Ice Skates - I can teach you this art.

You found the Ice Skates! How marvelous! Now I can start training. The ice skating competition is almost here. I need to get back in shape.

    Santa's Workshop

  • Burning Bridges

    Martha

My amnesia potion is nearly ready. It’s based on extracts from the tsetse fly. It’ll make me forget where I hid the Dragon Wand. While I’m on the other side of reality, you need to add a few ingredients, which you can find in the City. When I return, give it to me to drink and I’ll forget what happened to me during the last hour. Do we have a deal? See you later!

Thank you! I couldn’t have managed without your help. Excuse me, but who are you? I’m very embarrassed, but the amnesia potion has side effects. The most important thing is that neither I nor anyone else ever finds the Dragon Wand. This is very good, as enormous power always leads to bad consequences.

  • Armed and Very Dangerous

    Martha

We now have a safe and discreet hiding place for the Dragon Wand. However, I’d be more at ease if the cache was guarded. I have a reliable guardian in mind - a Scorpion. Find it and I’ll help you catch it.

We caught the Scorpion! Are you surprised that this small and inconspicuous thing can be a watchman and defender? Oh, you underestimate the scorpion’s power! Its venom is deadly and its reactions are lightning fast. Even the all-powerful Egyptian gods brought in scorpions for protection.

    Oriental Temple

  • Secure Seal

    Martha

The cache for the Dragon Wand is almost ready. However, its defense is made by ants just like an ant hill, which has many entrances and exits. They must be sealed to stop one speck of magical energy from seeping out. Find a Bee to secure the cache.

Great! The Bee you found sealed the entrances of the cache with its honey just like a honeycomb. Now not a single bit of magical energy will escape. The Dragon Wand is safely hidden from magicians and from ordinary treasure hunters.

    Oriental Temple

  • Smoke Screen

    Martha

The Dragon Wand is very difficult to hide. Strong magicians are even capable of sensing the magic of a dormant wand. We need to protect our cache against magical scanning. Find an Ant. We can’t do this without its help.

You found an Ant! There are very few left in the City. With its help we’ll be able to protect the cache by creating a sort of ant hill. The pathways of an ant hill twist and turn like a complex maze and it will be reliable protection against magical scanning.

    Oriental Temple

  • Calm the Force

    Martha

We’ve decided on the location for the cache to hide the Dragon Wand. Now lets attend to its defense. The wand’s power calls out to magicians, summoning them to it. We must weaken its call. Look for the Scarab Beetle. Only its power can handle this task.

Excellent! Isn’t it a beauty? In ancient Egypt the scarab was revered as a symbol of the sun and rebirth. It makes its way from east to west just like the heavenly body. The powerful aura of the scarab will lessen the call of the Dragon Wand, and when the time comes, it will help restore its magic.

    Oriental Temple

  • A Place Under the Sun

    Martha

First, we need to determine the hiding place. We can’t bury the Dragon Wand in the middle of the City square. Believe it or not, an ancient, mystical creature - the Ladybird can help us. It’s not easy to find, but you can handle it.

Here’s the tiny thing. Thank you. The Ladybird is a symbol of the sun, as well as a scout and messenger of the gods. When flying it can see all the land, all the secret and hidden places. The Ladybird will especially help us find a place to hide the Dragon Wand.

    Oriental Temple

  • Flame in Hand

    Martha

Valerie has stirred up the entire City in her organisation of the Lantern Festival. This tradition is also to my liking. I hear you haven’t found the sixth lantern. I will help create it. We need the five lanterns you’ve already found and a bit of magic. Bring me City artifacts while I hang the lanterns.

Oh, I didn’t expect such an effect! Look, as a result of the ritual I made an old Dragon Lantern. They say that the light of this lantern wards off evil spirits and provides good luck.\n But what’s this?! It burst into flames all by itself in my hands and is burning brighter and brighter. How terrible, the whole thing is on fire! Beware... I didn’t want this!

  • Red Beauty

    Valerie

The Eastern tradition of searching for lanterns and solving riddles is very entertaining, isn’t it? And I already know what kind of lantern we’re looking for next. The answer to the last riddle is a rooster. Surely we need to search for a flashy, red lantern in an unusual shape. Please bring it back to me.

This is the "Rooster" Lantern? How beautiful and unusual... And the riddle that’s on it, let’s read it.\n "Five lanterns hang, brightly, cheerfully glowing, if the magic is with you, the sixth illuminates." So, we need to use magic? Let’s go see Martha.

    Oriental Temple

  • Colours of the Sky

    Valerie

The riddle in the Chinese lantern about a warm breeze and melting snow. You, of course, have also guessed it? Yes, the answer is spring. That means we need to look for a Spring Lantern. I think it will be green or blue, cheery and bright... Will you find this?

The Spring Lantern you found is so light and airy. I look at it and my spirits are immediately lifted! What riddle is hidden on it? Shall we read it?\n "A double beard, proud manner of walking, the first one to rise, sings loudly."

    Oriental Temple

  • For Good Luck

    Valerie

The second riddle on the Chinese lantern is more difficult... A horseshoe and rabbit’s foot are symbols of what? I know, it’s good luck! That means we need to look for a Lucky Lantern. I have no idea what it looks like. But you’re a Seeker. I’m sure you can easily find a Lucky Lantern.

What an unusual Lucky Lantern. I would never have found it without you! Honestly! How about we read the next riddle?\n "Loose snow melts in the sun, a breeze plays in the trees, the voices of birds become louder, signal that which is approaching." I know!

    Oriental Temple

  • Prize for Ingenuity

    Valerie

Riddles on lanterns are a traditional Chinese game. A prize awaits those who guess correctly. The first lantern contains a hint for which lantern to search for next. I know the answer to the riddle about the moon on the field. You need to find a Gourd Lantern.

You found a Gourd Lantern, which means I guessed correctly. But what riddle does this lantern hold?\n "If there is no happiness in life, an amulet will help you: a rabbit’s foot, horseshoe, tiger, toad and cow." Any guesses as to what it’s talking about?

    Oriental Temple

  • Festive Tradition

    Valerie

Unfortunately, I don’t know much about Chinese culture. I found an image of just one traditional lantern. Let’s start there. Bring a Festive Lantern that is red and round.

What a beautiful Festive Lantern! And what’s this piece of paper at the bottom? Why, it’s a riddle!\n "A reddish moon is visible on the gourd field. Tasty and ripe, tanned in the sun." What could this mean?

    Oriental Temple

  • Total Confusion

    Cardsharp

Warning! Try a little, cast the spell and the properties of the five fatally dangerous fruit you’ve collected will magically mix and create the cure to the unknown illness that is afflicting the City of Shadows. Now place the City’s artifacts inside the circle.

Wonderful, a Magical Lotus! It worked!\n Well technically you’ve failed. We didn’t create the Magical Drink of Life. I will grapple with this. In the meantime, I’ll take the Magic Lotus. Thank you for your help.

  • Luxurious Poison

    Cardsharp

The fifth ingredient of the medicine, which will rid the City of this epidemic, is the most dangerous and poisonous of all. The Castor Bean Plant. We need the plant’s seeds, which are hidden in beautiful, red, fluffy fruits. Be brave, my friend, and bring them!

Fortunately for you, you brought the Castor Bean Plant’s fruit without breaking them open. Here are some gloves. We’ll remove the seeds and make a magic circle with them. Nothing and no one would dare run off before the end of the mixing ritual.

    Troll Market

  • Double Sided Agent

    Cardsharp

The medicine for the unfortunate, stricken citizens will be ready soon. The recipe’s next ingredient is the poppy. But not just any poppy - the blue Himalayan Poppy. Magicians are certain that it grows in all nine worlds of being, and therefore gathers information about everything. Find it quickly.

Wow, what a huge seed capsule this Himalayan Poppy has! So many seeds in it! Each of them can tell tales, either good or bad, depending on your luck. It’s said that this poppy is useful in both light and dark magic.

    Troll Market

  • Energetic Thorn

    Cardsharp

Hurry and find the third ingredient of the medicine because an epidemic is brewing in the City! The recipe says that we must turn to the sun’s energy. To do this, find the Fruit of the Chestnut, as it’s considered to be a sun-loving tree.

You found the Chestnut. Wow, it’s so prickly! I forgot to make it clear that during the mixing ritual the chestnut must be held in one’s hand. It’s the only way to transfer the sun’s energy.

    Troll Market

  • Proven Sedative

    Cardsharp

How’s your head? Does it hurt yet? Do you have a fever? Then we need to hurry before the symptoms of the illness infect you. According to my recipe, the second ingredient of the medicine is the Fruit of the Peony. Find it quickly!

The Peony that you found is an excellent sedative, and will give protection against dark spells and evil spirits during the medicine creation ritual. You can even make beads out of its seeds just to be on the safe side.

    Troll Market

  • Magic Mixture

    Cardsharp

To cure all the City’s residents, you’ll need the Magical Drink of Life. Five ingredients and a mixing ritual are needed to make it. Your task is to find these ingredients. The first of them is the Fruit of the Magnolia. Just be careful - it’s extremely poisonous.

Aha, the Fruit of the Magnolia. Be careful with it. Who would’ve thought that such dangerous fruit could come from such beautiful flowers? But they say small amounts of the poison provide treatment. So let’s try it.

Poor leprechaun... Cardsharp shamelessly arranged the entire hunt for him! Let’s invite the leprechaun for tea and cake, and return all of his lost belongings to him. Grab a couple of artifacts so that the poor thing is at ease and comes to us.

Cardsharp’s actions have scared the poor leprechaun so much! We lured him out of hiding with the smell of blueberry cake, but he turned out to be a friendly little thing. We sat down together and he shared so many jokes! Also upon leaving, the leprechaun gave us a gift - his pot full of gold.

  • Carved Pipe

    Valerie

Our visiting leprechaun has dropped his belongings around the City. If we return them, do you think we’ll be able to become friends with him? He was last seen at the game machines. Check that the leprechaun didn’t lose anything else.

What a beautiful carved pipe! Just look at that engraving. The leprechaun was probably very upset that he lost it. We must return it to him!

  • There’s the Hat!

    Valerie

The leprechaun hasn’t had time to settle in the City due to everyone trying to catch him! They scared the poor thing so much that he’s become distracted and is constantly losing things. If you look around here you’ll surely find something else of his.

Yes, it’s the Leprechaun’s Hat! He probably lost it when he ran away from the last treasure hunter. I can do without gold, but I’d love to see a real leprechaun with my own eyes. Let’s return his hat to him?

  • Green Shoes

    Cardsharp

Like all leprechauns, our mysterious friend is very skittish so we’ll need to set up a sly trap. Leprechauns are known to be sharp dressers and they appreciate beautiful shoes. Look for a pair of stylish shoes that the leprechaun can’t resist. He’ll then come out to try them on and that’s when we’ll catch him.

You’ve outdone yourself! These shoes have such soft leather and are a lovely emerald colour that no self-respecting leprechaun could resist. I’ve thought out the trap perfectly. These wishes will soon be in my... sorry, in our pocket.

  • Leprechaun Trap

    Cardsharp

According to legend, if you catch a leprechaun, he’ll grant three wishes in exchange for his freedom. I suggest we join forces to catch the leprechaun and share the reward. For this, we’ll need a Big Net.

Great! With this net we can catch the leprechaun who’ll grant our wishes. One thing I may ask of you, my friend, is for your humble help in this affair.

  • Hidden Treasure

    Cardsharp

My good friend, have you heard the latest rumour? They’re saying that a leprechaun has appeared in the City. Do you want to join the treasure hunt? If you’re lucky enough to find the Leprechaun’s Shovel, you can seize his treasure.

Well, well, the Leprechaun’s Shovel! Where did you find it? These scrooges never hide their gold far from home. That means he lives around here somewhere.

  • Festive Parade

    Detective

Valerie assures us that everything is ready for the St. Patrick’s Day parade. We need to start the parade a little earlier so it doesn’t end up like last year. While I’m handling this, you handle the installation of the statue of St. Patrick in the City’s main square. You’ll need magical help because this statue is far from feather light.

The statue of St. Patrick is installed, the festive parade is ready to begin, the harps are tuned and the singers are ready for the contest. The gold coins and shamrocks you found fit right into the holiday’s theme. Now, everyone to the parade. The procession is already starting.

  • Holiday Symbol

    Detective

What a shame! The citizens are preparing to march on St. Patrick’s Day. There’s joy and merriment all around, yet I’m investigating a crime. And I can’t just put it on hold, since I’ve lost St. Patrick’s Staff! Without it, there will be no parade. Can you help in the search?

Excellent, my friend! You managed to find St. Patrick’s Staff. It turns out that it wasn’t stolen, just lost after last year’s parade. But if you remember what happened then, it’s no wonder...

  • Yo-Ho-Ho and a Barrel of Ale

    Valerie

So, it’s decided that on St. Patrick’s Day we’ll put on a singing and harp playing contest. Winners will receive mugs of traditional Irish ale as prizes. You’ll agree this is a well-deserved reward for the brave. Bring a mug to start.

Great! We already have Irish ale. Perhaps it would be worthwhile to give a mug to the brave before their performances. It would most certainly increase the popularity of the contest.\n But there's only one single mug. That's not enough. Someone at the festival could start a brawl!

    Manor House Gate

  • Irish Music

    Valerie

Did you get tangled up with that Cardsharp again? Even on St. Patrick's Day he finds a way to pull off his slippery dealings. Don't get sidetracked by his nonsense. For a joyous celebration, we need music. Can you find a Celtic Harp? It's an unusual instrument from Ireland.

Perfect! This thingamajig is a Celtic Harp. Just imagine how many people would be willing to play it and sing along?! And if you give a prize for the best song, people will be lined up to City Hall!

  • Promise of Payoff

    Cardsharp

Alas, the Irish shamrock you brought earlier turned out to be a fairly ineffective good luck charm. On St. Patrick’s Day, there’s another way to attract Lady Luck. We need a Gold Coin. With it you get a payoff. Or more accurately, I do...

Wow! A Gold Coin! I hope it’s truly magical and rewards anyone who holds it. Give it here and I’ll go check! I promise to cut you in if all this is true.

  • Good Luck Charm

    Cardsharp

Dear friend, the St. Patrick's Day you are organising promises universal excitement, parades and holiday cheer. But such ordinary things won't interest Cardsharp.\n On this day you may find a magic Shamrock to attract good luck. I promise wholeheartedly that I'll tell you how to use it. Just help me find the Shamrock.

My friend, you found a magical Shamrock! This truly is a gift for Cardsharp. I’ll tell you how to use it... later. I never break my promises. But right now I must check the Shamrock’s magical abilities.

  • Hairdressing Experiment

    Valerie

It’s time to conduct my first ever hairdressing experiment. I’m so excited that my hands are shaking. So you can be my assistant. I hope my skills are enough to create a hairdo that opens the mirror portal. I’d love to attend the coolest parties... For the hairdressing experiment to be successful, bring a few more artifacts for luck.

How do you like my hairdo? Seeing as you’re laughing, that must mean it’s awful. It’s not too late, nobody saw or knows. I can re-do it all. I’m sure I can create a hairdo whose beauty will open the mirror portal!

  • Set and Adorn

    Valerie

Try to guess what women’s hair need for the final touch? A Hairpin. It’s decorative and is a retaining pin for hairdos so they don’t fall down prematurely. Find me a Hairpin, and a pretty one.

I’m impressed by your enthusiasm in my search. This Hairpin is just what I need for my first hairdressing experiment! I hope the hairdo turns out okay.

  • Hair Dryer

    Valerie

The selection of a hairdresser’s tools is almost complete. True, we still need a Hair Dryer to dry hair after styling it. Please bring one.

This Hair Dryer is an antique from the Neolithic period. You honestly couldn’t find anything more modern? I’m sorry, I’m just excited because you showed up. Needless to say, this dryer will work for such a professional as myself.

    Rapture Theater

  • Luxurious Curls

    Valerie

Now it’s time to find hair curlers. You don’t know what curlers are? They are cylinders you wind your hair around. Bring Curlers and I’ll show you how they’re used.

Though you had no idea what curlers were, you found exactly what we needed. I’ll wind my own hair around such curlers to become a beautiful, curly haired beast... if everything turns out well.

    Rapture Theater

  • Comb the Locks

    Valerie

The second thing a hairdresser needs is a comb. You should be able to pick one up without much trouble. Find me a Comb.

It’s nice that you brought a simple Comb. I still don’t have any skills in brushing and using special brushes.

    Rapture Theater

  • Thinning Out Strands

    Valerie

I’ve studied the theoretical basics of the hairdressing profession. The job depends on little things - finding several required tools and conducting the first experiment. First, we need Thinning Shears. Bring them, please.

Thank you for the Thinning Shears. Now I’ll test whether they’re the right size for my hand. I forgot to mention it in all the excitement. Please forgive me.

  • Magic Protection

    Martha

The Spirits are asking me to assemble a magic amulet that will prevent the Sprout from being stolen again. Alas, the trolls lost many components I need. I can try to restore them, but I’ll need artifacts. Could you bring me some?

Thanks to you I summoned the astral projections of all the items you found in the Troll Market. With them, we created a magical Spring Bell. It will forever protect the Sprout from thieves! I’ll bring the bell to the Spirits and you enjoy the spring.

  • Tree of Life Keeper

  • Spring Revival

    Martha

We’ve gathered all the precious symbols of spring. Who would’ve thought that trolls are capable of creating such marvellous things! I can feel the aura of love and warmth emanating from them. I’m sure their creators are more than just trolls! We still need to add a few artifacts infused with City magic, and I’ll perform a ritual that will bring the Sprout back to life.

I thank you for your help, my friend. The ritual is completed. Look... A golden glow envelopes the Sprout of the Tree of Life, and it’s starting to grow green again! Its flowers unfold and reach towards the sun! Here it is, the miracle of spring awakening. We need to return it to the Spring Spirit.

  • Fragile Magic

    Cardsharp

Dear friend, let me make a suggestion on how to help bring back the spring and revive the withered Sprout. I think we need to look for a bit of magic. In my humble opinion, spring is all about magic... I’m sure you’ll manage to find some symbol of spring magic.

What a lovely bit of fairy magic. It’s exactly what I had in mind. You’re an excellent discoverer! Now we need to give Martha our findings. Let’s hope this will help to revive the Sprout!

    Troll Market

  • Wings of the Wind

    Detective

I remember looking for a sweet swan once before. Maybe there’s a bird-shaped gem somewhere? Birds are true symbols of spring, after all. Help me find that gem-shaped bird, partner! If we do, we’ll surely be able to restore the warmth of spring to the budding trees and bring them back to life.

A Sparrow’s Flight Diadem - what an intricate beauty. It looks like the bird is about to take off! A spring diadem would look great on Juliette. I’ll take note of this shop and this troll.

    Troll Market

  • Sangiovese Vine

    Juliette

Mon ami, spring is about birds, pretty dragonflies and greenery. We need to find something green. Maybe, ivy or a grapevine? After all, what else could help bring the Sprout back but a plant!

What a beautiful ring! So delicately done that I almost feel like I can smell the green leaves of the decorative vine! Ah, no, it’s just the smell of pastry from the Dream Shop... but the smell is delicious.

    Troll Market

  • In Anticipation of Summer

    Valerie

I know what could be the next symbol of spring! A dragonfly! Dragonflies appear in spring, and when they come, summer’s not too far behind. They are so beautiful that I’m sure the trolls must have made a few jewellery pieces featuring them. Will you look for the precious dragonflies?

What a lovely dragonfly made of silver and pearl! Look how her wings are trembling! The troll who made this must have put a lot of effort into it... They must really love spring to create something like this. This beauty simply has to help bring the Sprout back to life!

    Troll Market

  • Intoxicating Fragrances

    Isabelle

The evil aura of trolls turned out to be disastrous for the Sprout of the Tree of Life. It withered, and if we don’t make it turn green again, spring will never come. But if we find the troll-made jewellery pieces with spring symbols full of warmth and love, I think they’ll help revive our poor Sprout.\n I think I saw a brooch with flowers in one of the shops. Let’s search for it together! We have to hurry before the Sprout withers completely.

What a beautiful flowery brooch! Look how the dew sparkles on the petals! It looks almost real. I hope it will help breathe life into the Sprout.

    Troll Market

  • Sparkle of Truth

    Martha

We now have five distorted mirrors, but to unlock the Mirror Shop and get to the Sprout we need to merge them into one. All the mirrors you’ve found reflect an illusion of sorts. We need one mirror that will show us reality. This reality combines the past, future, dreams and fears... Bring me a few City artifacts and I’ll perform the assembling ritual.

The five mirrors have blended into the Mirror of True Essence. I daren’t look into it: it’s too scary to see my true self. Now I will direct the mirror onto the shop and we’ll finally see the entrance, not some illusional doors.\n There it is! Look, it’s not even locked! Get in, quickly! We need to find the Sprout of the Tree of Life!

  • Dreaming of Spring

    Detective

The last mirror to help dispel the illusion created by the fingerless troll is the Mirror of the Future. It shows what could or might happen. They say it’s decorated with green plants and that trolls believe spring will come back to them some day. Go find the Mirror of the Future.

Here it is! The Mirror of the Future! I can see in it... high-profile investigations, shooting, chasing, and the Police Commissioner’s badge! Is this for real? Oh, in the reflection I now see myself standing in the Troll Market... I’m holding the Sprout! I hope it’s a sign that we’ll actually find it soon.

    Troll Market

  • Looking Back

    Martha

An important item to dispel the mirage at the Mirror Shop is the Mirror of the Past. Hurry up, we can’t waste any time! The Sprout of the Tree of Life gets weaker with every moment, and spring is dying without it! Find the Mirror of the Past.

We found the Mirror of the Past. It will give an answer to any question about the life of the inquirer. Lost things, forgotten friends... Anything you want to remember?\n Look, there’s a sleeping Spring Spirit carved into the frame. Maybe this means that the market wasn’t always separated from our world? Maybe there was once spring here too?

    Troll Market

  • A Catalogue of Insomnia

    Detective

The third mirror that we need to bring to Martha to get inside the Mirror Shop is the Mirror of Sins. Who else besides a troll could create it? I bet they’re looking in the mirror to see how they can make gullible customers take the bait! Do you remember that in exchange for their goods they ask their customers to do a bad thing? Find it quickly.

Mirror of Sins... How symbolic that the frame is decorated with snakes and thorns. On the other side it’s written that the Mirror of Sins shows deeds that keep us up at night. I won’t look into it. I remember all my sins without any mirrors.

    Troll Market

  • A Shadow from the Subconscious

    Valerie

Martha says that the second mirror we need to dispel the illusions of the Mirror Shop is the Mirror of Fear. I wonder what it shows. Find it whilst I will ask the medium about the details. Oh, I so hope that our Sprout doesn’t wilt while we’re busy here...

Whoa, you found the Mirror of Fears! What a terrible frame it has, yikes... Martha says that this mirror shows secret horror... Oh my gosh, there’s a cockroach in there!

    Troll Market

  • Reflection of a Dream

    Martha

The first mirror that we need to find to unlock the Mirror Shop and rescue the Sprout is the Mirror of Desires. I’m pretty sure that more than one troll bought something like this from the Mirror Maker, so it won’t be difficult to find it somewhere in the Market. Find it and bring it to me.

You’ve found the Mirror of Desire! If you look into it, the mirror will show you your most secret dreams. I can see the Sprout of the Tree of Life in it. Well, it’s true - my biggest dream is to bring back the Sprout and save the spring. What do you see in the mirror?

    Troll Market

  • Time for Love

    Valerie

We finally found all the lamps that were stolen from the Lamplighter! With their help he’s going to create a lamp, the light of which will fill a person with love. Incidentally, he mentioned that he also needs the magic of the City of Shadows in his work! Find the required artifacts and he’ll show us the thief.

Can you believe the Lamplighter created a new lamp out of those five?! A lamp that spreads love to us all! I can feel in my heart the joy of spring blossoming! I love this world, this market, and... Ahem, it’s personal.\n Now let’s have him tell us the name of the thief, or I’ll keep this magic lamp for myself!

  • Happy Moments

    Valerie

We need to find out who took the Sprout of the Tree of Life! There’s one more lamp that we must bring back to the Lamplighter so that he’ll point us to the thief. Find the lamp that evokes happiness! I can see why it was stolen from the Lamplighter.

At last we found the Lamp of Happiness. Let me turn it on for a minute. I’m dying to feel a little happier! Especially after the mean Dream Seller’s trick...\n O-o-oh... I see why it was stolen from the Lamplighter! How did he create such a thing? I definitely need to buy a few things in this shop later.

  • Longing for Love

    Detective

Next up is the lamp that makes you feel longing. At least it’s not pain. But then again, longing can drive you insane; or even kill you. Damn these trolls... Let’s quickly do what we need to and then bid them farewell. I’m afraid I won’t be able to keep my cool and not blow this dangerous place apart.

Great, we’ve found another lamp. Just don’t turn it on accidentally, buddy! With the Sprout missing, we already have a bunch of problems, so let’s not make longing one of them. All my thoughts are already focused on this freezing City.

    Troll Market

  • A Beam of Hope

    Valerie

The Lamplighter said that he needs a lamp whose beams will raise hope in people’s souls! Much like the spring awakening! Even in the Troll Market such wonderful things can be found. The Detective is being grumpy as usual. All right, let’s go, we should hurry up and bring the lost lamp to the Lamplighter!

There it is! The Lamp of Hope. Can we turn it on for a minute? I wouldn’t mind a bit of hope that we’ll finally find the Sprout!

    Troll Market

  • Love and Pain

    Detective

Sometimes love hurts, so we need to find a lamp that causes pain. What dangerous toys you can buy from these trolls! All right, the Lamplighter’s job is none of our business. We need to return the Sprout, so let’s start our search.

So this is the lamp that evokes pain? What, a spooky thing. Even holding it is unpleasant. Under different circumstances I would’ve taken it away since it’s practically a weapon! Come on, we should return it to its owner as soon as possible.

    Troll Market

  • The Glow of Joy

    Valerie

In exchange for his help the Lamplighter wants us to help him return the five lamps that were stolen. Once he has all of them, the troll will create a lamp that will evoke love. How nice! In return he will show us where the fingerless thief is hiding.\n Only someone like a troll could have the idea of dividing love into separate feelings. Ugh... I think we need to find the lamp that evokes joy - it’s the first thing that you feel when you see someone you love. Find this unusual lamp.

There it is! The lamp that evokes joy when you light it. So beautiful! I’m curious about how it works! Should I click here? Ahhh! I have this tickling, bubbly feeling inside; like after a glass of champagne! Amazing! I must get a lamp like this for myself!

    Troll Market

  • A Dream Come True

    Valerie

We finally collected all the items for the Dream Shop owner to remember the taste of spring! We need to help him create the Spring Dream; then he’ll tell us the name of the Sprout thief! However, he needs more City artifacts first, but it’s easy to find them in the City. You can do it, right? The Spring Spirit gets weaker with every hour!

  • A Butterfly on the Palm

    Juliette

Mon ami, horrible things are happening in the City! Streets are buried in snow and houses are covered with ice. I could barely get to you! Please, hurry up in your search for the Sprout, or the Spring Spirit will die, and so will we! The last treat to bring to the troll is chocolate butterflies. Find them quickly!

Excellent! What a beautiful filigree butterfly made of white chocolate! You had to work hard to get it, but it was worth it!

    Troll Market

  • A Bed of Flowers

    Isabelle

I also want to help. \n In spring the birds return and the flowers blossom. Some time ago I tried sugared flowers and they were really yummy. Let’s find some for the troll! These flowers will make any treat look great, not to mention the Spring Dream he wants to create!

How adorable! Sugared Violets! Mmm, yum! And the smell! I’m sure they’ll help the troll from the Dream Shop remember spring.

    Troll Market

  • Wings of the Spring

    Detective

Have you noticed how the Dream Shop owner gazed at the violets and candied fruits? It seemed like he was ready to rip them out of our hands! I hope he doesn’t cheat us. I’ll watch him...\n Now let’s get back to business. Isabelle said something about birds that come home in spring, and I just saw a pair of swans. You won’t believe it, they were Éclair Swans! Bring them, and this pastry will remind the troll of one more spring memory.

So you finally found the éclairs in the shape of swans! Great. I’m sure this pastry will remind the troll about spring. By the way, did you know that in some countries it is believed that swans bring the spring on their wings?

    Troll Market

  • Spring Lightness

    Valerie

Have you ever noticed the kind of clouds there are in spring? In winter they’re heavy and thick, but in spring they’re as light as a feather! Let’s find something like that to help the troll remember what the spring sky looks like! After the troll creates his Spring Dream, he’ll lead us to the fingerless thief, and we might be able to find the stolen Sprout. Find the treat that will remind the troll of spring clouds.

Marshmallows! Light and airy, like a spring cloud! Good job on finding it! I’ll bring it to the Dream Seller. I bet he’s dying to get this. Oh, with this never-ending winter I think I myself have started to forget spring...

    Troll Market

  • Feeling Orange

    Juliette

So we need to remind the Dream Shop’s owner of spring so he can create a Spring Dream? And that’s for finding the Sprout? Mon ami, let’s find the treats reminiscent of warm spring feelings! Spring, first of all, is about the sun. Find a sunny treat!

Candied fruit! Good thinking. They sparkle like real rays of sunlight! I’ll bring them to the Dream Seller. I hope we’ll find the other treats as easily, along with our thief. I don’t think it’s good for the Sprout to be so far from the Magic Forest.

    Troll Market

  • The Cleansing Ritual

    Martha

The last item for the Watchmaker is concealed by a spell - I can’t locate it. But if you bring me some City artifacts, I’ll perform a ritual that will summon the artifact. Hurry up or the troll will never redeem himself, and we won’t find the Sprout.

We brought the Cup of Oblivion to the Watchmaker, which once helped him get to the Troll Market. Now he can get his friend out of the prison and redeem himself... Is this letter part of the deal? Is it about the Half-Finger thief who stole the Sprout?
