This is the coat of arms of the Five Wise Guardians to which the designer belonged. What a heavy coat of arms! This was deliberately broken. It must have taken a lot of strength. It seems that the rumors were correct...the designer had left the Five Wise Guardians shortly before the fire.

The flask on this sign is tilted. We can safely assume that it indicates the direction of the hiding place. So it's this way...and how dark it is. If you look closely, you can see a compass and a right angle ruler painted on it. These are items that symbolize Vila's engineering studies! Not only is she good at chemistry, but she also has a talent for designing all sorts of tools. I would love to take a peek into her workspace once...

Based on the totality of the reports and what Carlos told me, it seems that Vila has always had a strong interest in chemistry. So I think the markings pointing to her location are chemistry related. I saw the skeletal structure formula around here...let's get started looking for it!
I'm impressed that she can come up with skeletal structural formulas with arrows. Shortly after Vila learned to read and write, she learned to memorize chemical formulas and draw structural equations. Carlos often talks about that too...he may have lost his memory, but he never forgets the memories of spending time with his children.

This fountain looks like the water keeps flowing without a break, but the intricate movement of this ball just makes it look that way. If the water was truly endless, I would have considered buying this fountain at the Sheriff's Department to supply water to remote areas...but either way, Director Black would not have said yes.

The designer's greatest weapon is his unique talent to transform the shape of an object simply by mindful thought. This may sound like a strange thing to ask, but... could you please take that mutated strawberry over there? I'd like to check it out.
It seems I was wrong in my prediction. It was the fog that mutated this strawberry, not the designer. I've been trying to figure out why this was pawned...can you hear my take on it? Food mutated in this city never goes bad. With such a rare item, who knows what high price it might fetch someday?

I will certainly make the anonymous person who sent the threatening letter regret sending such a rude letter. You may have fooled me about the alligator, but you will never fool me! This anonymous letter has a special substance on it that numbs the alligator's sense of smell. I learned in officer school that harsh citrus scents, especially grapefruit, are offensive to dogs. Look for grapefruit slices on the ground.
Grapefruit slices, cinnamon, octagonal... these things combined with the smell of these things can make a dog lose its way. Where did you find this? Well... that's where Black's guy works. I knew that guy had a grudge against me. Otherwise, I'd be making hot wine. I'll check it out!

The substance used to numb the dog's sense of smell would have to be fresh. Look for something that the sender of the threatening letter may have used. How about freshly ground red pepper, for example? Check with me to see if there are any traces of red pepper around here!
This red pepper is in a very unusual mill. If I remember correctly, this mill belonged to Black when he worked here. That makes him our prime suspect. If Black is the one who sent those threatening letters, he's not going to get away with it.
